Michael's retirement from his old criminal life.
So, with this one. With his return back to the Dlc. A safe house in the hills. Where, he comes back, and is still willing to take on any form of mission.
While, making a decision to step.away into retirement. It looks like, he's kind of not finished with what needs to be done.
--------------------------------
What motivated him to support the player. Is a bit of a jump. From his old motivations.
I just wan't to say, first. I am happy for him to return. Because, I've got some thoughts about this new plot line, for the DLC.
---------------------------------
There's just a few things with this direction. That i wan't to talk about.
I am aware, that this the developer's choice. With, what they might be working on, with his character.
Also, about his motivation with this, with working with us. Is a bit strange. Strange as in, what is it about the player. Made him interested into helping them? Hmm.
---------------------------------
This is just my supporting evidence, for this. And, this is only for discussion.
Everything that I say, is only used from sources i found. That are going to contain errors.
(Or even with what I remember. Even with the character's dialogue's. To help back up what i am saying. Is going to be in different places.
When i do come up with my own thing. That is all speculation. I hope you enjoy reading regardless.
Even when i do happen to ramble on. With that out of the way. Here is my supporting evidence to his retiement!)
-------------------------------------
Michael, as a once bank robber. He has a passion for. Did things to get the thrill of it.
Then, when he met Amanda. His life changed forever.
-----------------------------------
Being stuck in a family lifestyle that he has to adapt to.
Feeling like, he's missing his purpose of doing this one thing, that he used to do. Makes it hard for him to accept it.
This left him frustrated, between family life, and the crime life he had.
Because, he feels like. He doesn't have enough. Or he felt like he doesn't have a purpose.
In the Prologue, he hired an agent. To do the work, that he paid for. To help him complete his mission, to bait his friend Trevor.
And, take him out. Where, he would feel safe. Making a difficult situation, that is going to affect other people.
Where that, has gone wrong, and Dave accidently. (I say, 'Accidently.') Shot Brad instead, because he stepped in the way.
Thing go wrong from there. Now that Trevor has escaped. Michael had no idea, that his past was going to follow him. When he moved away, to then react out of paranoia.
-------------------------------
When he apleared in the Therapist office, he now seems lost. He stands up in anger, and frustration.
Explaining his situation, saying that he is stuck. At the end of the road. With a big house, and a useless kid.
Stuck talking to him, because nobody else, seemed to care. Exclaiming that he is "Living the big dream.
And that dream is F*cked! It's F*cking F*cked!!" Because, he lost having a thing for purpose. And, place that he is living in.
His family life drove him back, to that old life. Even though, his his issues. His actions did kind of cause, his family to resent him.
When he chooses to do those heists, he get's the ecxitement out of it. And, makes him feel like he's found some purpose again. That, what he felt like he missed.
------------------------------------
With these changes in his life, the usage of his alcoholism maninfests with what he does. That in result, took some control of him.
It's kind of a comfort, but then also brings out his toxic. As he done so for years.
When he relapsed into drinking again. (When his family, was walking all over him)
It worsened his urges to get back into active life. To relieve that. Yet, he was also living in fear.
--------------------------------------
With his work with the FIB, with Dave Norton. He was stepping into between. Was also putting on a burden on his shoulder's.
I don't really remember what mission it was. If that was, 'By the book.' Or 'Monkey buisness.' Is when, Michael calls up Dave wanting to request to quit.
Dialogue. "We hit the berau for you, Dave. I'm done.
Dave: "Yes, i saw that. Meet me at the Kortz center. And I'll de brief you."
Michael: "I'm out, Dave. From now on. Done."
Dave: "I appreciate that, I'm trying my best fir you. But...You, and Trevor attacking merry weather repeatedly. It doesn't help."
Michael: "That's Trevor's thing."
Dave: (Stern.) "Who ever's thing it is, it's un aurthorised. And it's dumb. They've been sniffing around my office. We really need to talk."
Michael: (Frustrated.) "Really? Ugh. Alright, alright. I'll come to the Kortz center. F-ck!"
---------------------------------
Wrap up mission: Is the final Mission Michael, was called over to the Korz center. Where Dave assigns a de brief, for Michael.
This was the Mission, where they get swarmed with the Merry weather, and the IAA. And Trevor show's up to assist Michael. I think, at that point. That was the end of it.
Later, another secret phone call between Michael, and Dave.
Updates about the family. And Dave asks how he and is family are doing. Michael say's they are doing good.
And checks up on him. He replies that he is still doing well, with his buisness. So, I guess, they both settled thing's from there.
----------------------------------
The 'Evil.' Session. Michael comes around, to the therapist. Already worked up with what's been going on. At first, he wanted to say something. But then thought, it was not worth it, at first.
When Friedlander (I'm just going to refer him as Fred.) Respectully, allows him to make a desicion to stay, or leave. When he decided to stay. He opens up with different rants.
About, if his doctor believes in Evil. Which, he doesn't, so gives him advice about different people.
That it doesn't fully convince him, because he memtions about his friend. That he is *Too.* worried about.
Then he goes on other rant's with how he wen't back into relapse, and how he got into whole series of monumental things.
The house, the car scam, jewelery store. And playing a gang thug, with the FIB. Just to pass some time.
Proof of him wan'ting to step back, from those job's. "If i could just get all of these people off of my back, Doc. I'd be doing a lot better." If he could have those agent's off of his back. That pressure, will lift off of his shoulder's.
‐-------------------------------
Bury the hatchet: A small piece of evidence again, when Trevor comes over to visit Michael.
Wan't to speak to him about Brad's death. Whwn Trevor tries to encourage Michael, to continue doing scores with him.
Michael turns it down, and say's he wan't's to do something. That can make him happy. He want's to make movies.
Of course Trevor was disappointed, with this. Because, he felt that their crime life. He would be worthless, without it. This was something, that they used to do.
For the confrontation. Trevor criticises his choices. Saying that he doesn't have the gut's to do it.
Michael, admit's that even though the crime life, is a part of him. But, he has to be there, for his family.
Means that his family is Important, to him. Continuesly being reckless, would only put them at risk of being killed.
-----------------------------------
Meltdown: The primier, is proof. That when Michael achieved something, Solomon Richards steps out of the theatre, to congratulate him.
The part where Michael first started Solomon's movie production. He was buzzing with excitement.
Because, he feels like he is doing something that he's good at. He calls up Amanda exoressing this, when he wan'ts to show his family, his projects.
He feels proud, and say's to her. "I am finally doing something with my life."
Michael, and Solomon develop a frienship, from which they feel close to. Whenever, they meet each other, for these projects.
----‐------------------------------
Michael, and Trevor get's called up to assist Franklin. On a perlious mission, to take down the corrupted agents. Devin weston, Stave haines, Wei Chang, and Strech. That opposes them.
At the end of the Deathwish mission. Michael, Trevor and Franklin finally kills Devin. By pushing him off the cliff at the back of his car. The characters, then talk about what they are going to do next, in their lives.
Franklin is the first one to leave. And leaves both Trevor and Michael to leave too.
Trevor asks him. What else are you going to do now? Michael replied that "I am getting too old for this sh-t."
---------------------------------------
This is the final piece of evidence. That I picked, to support this retirement, for Michael's decision.
His heists with the FIB, and Merryweather. Was putting unecessary pressure onto his shoulder's. That came back, from the past.
In the "Evil" session when he wanted those people off of his back. Just so, he doesn't worry about safety of his family.
And, he found some structure in his life. He decided to step away, so he could focus his mind, getting into that career. And, spend a normal life, in a dangerous world. As much as possible.
Here, he return's in the Dlc. With his wife Amanda. This shows they are still together, meaning they were able to work on themselves. To save their marrage.
This time. Michael appears to be different. He's gotten older. His Image, he appears to be calmer, wiser, and reasonably sane than his unstable self. Thank goodness for that.
--------------------------------------
So...This discussion, of him coming back. If some people are disappointed with his brief appearence.
I just wan't to get this out of the way. Before i talk about, what i think his role, is going to be. Michael, was given a brief appearence.
That, is very short. If there was more with him, i think the developers. Are making more DLC's that are going to require Michael. I do think, there will be more with him.
Now, about that. With him being active. He's gotten old. He wouldn't be able to run as quickly as he used to. With his characterisation.
Yes, he has to be kept practically around the same. Or that there of, even with a few touch ups.
With his character development. If some people, say that. They wan't him to 'Get back into his old way's.'
This would not be effective, for him now. This is suppose to be his development, for the future. Not the past.
If he remained as a drunken alcoholoc, for the rest of his life. That does not help raise his character. I think, he would have died a lot quicker. Than how he is aging now.
That wouldn't show how much he has improved.
Although, he loves him self, a good taste of wine, now and then. I guess, they saved some of his gimmicks.
---------------------------------
The sarcasm, and his iconic personality. While, it wasn't as intense as it was. His personality still got his smartmouth sarcasm.
Written in way's where it is funny, and got that charm to it. He seems to be more friendly with the player. That helps keep him Iconic, and feel closely to his character, as possible.
----------------------------------
His role. Michael has returned. Being active, providing assistance, whenever he can.
It is good to see, that he has developed some films, that has gotten attention on TV. That he has accomplished, that makes him succsessful.
His activity, is mixed. It's still both active, and it is not. He say's to the MC. The player, that "It's not necessarily my buisness.
But we got a lot of people, I trust that seems to trust you. So, how about we stay in touch, yeah?" That means, that somehow.
He heard about us. Then, had an Interest in us. Motivated him, wanting to help the player,/Even teaching them his old skills.
To help them succeed. With any mission, they get into. -So, the player is the modivation to keep him going.
He is, however away from the FIB work. That hekps keep him focused onto his movie work for Vinewood.
Even though, his presence is giving him activity. His age naturally, if any joining missions that he does.
He wouldn't be able to do the physical work he used to do, when he was younger. This would put too much strain on his body.
---------------------------------
The other things he would still do, is teach, assist, or even tell you to do something. If he needed help with anything.
That looks like, that is what the direction for the Dlc. Is being worked with.
---------------------------------
This other part here, with keeping his family life. Safe, from any other corrupted agents, at the end of the mission with him defending the player's house.
He tells Amanda, with what happened. That they had an HOA. Intervention, that he has to cover up. What really happened.
To not make her worry. Or risk of having her identity exposed. He had to keep his activity at a minimal rate. To prevent any further exposure, from his outdoor activities.
In conclusion. My thoughts are, for his retirement.
These events were the key evidence, to him stepping away. And finding something that would benefit him.
Into doing something, that makes him happy. During his works with the FIB over time, was working him up.
His old passions for adreneline, still gives him that spark. As he say's "He still got it." That suggests, that he would still. Try to be available, and active, where he feels Important.
So, this is another approach with him. Keeping him active, but also keeping him sucsessful.
This still supports his decision of continuing on with his career, as it is one of his favorite passions.
