Geun-tae's current predicament looks way less like a "oh no, he's on the brink of death" and more like a "oh no, he's not going to be at 100% for the upcoming war".
It's still a problem if the most pumped up general isn't at full capacity, and while that could be conveniently remedied by Hak acting as a sub. or assistant, it could be a problem if Val and the assassins are heading in the opposite direction. Especially if the dragons choose of their own will to join the war, too.
