League of Extraordinary Rektsons: 2077
“”((For Gene. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQIg3lRN2Xw))
An old cowboy went riding out one dark and windy day...
“GET BACK! GET INTO SOME COVER!”
“Where the fuck’s Scratch? Cujo, where’s--”
“He’s dead, omae, fuck it!”
Upon a ridge he rested as he went along his way...
They all had to scream to be heard through their commlink, nearly blowing out their vocal cords to be heard among the deafening blare of Johnny Cash.
When all at once a mighty herd of red eyed cows he saw...
The top of the corporate skyscraper was a battlefield, littered with bullet casings and the corpses of security personnel. The run had gone smoothly... until the gunship touched down on their ascent.
A-plowing through the ragged sky, and up the cloudy draw.
“He’s on the helipad! Slot the son of a bitch!” screamed Barnes as he blindfired his Uzi. Lily kept peering her bright blue head around for any sign of their mage, Scratch. Cujo, their hacker, ducked beneath a stream of gunfire from the black-clad figures on the adjoining rooftops.
Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel...
On the helipad there was a tall man, his ballistic armor and helmet both shiny as silver and dark as pitch, high-quality stuff. In one hand he clutched a heavy pistol-- in the other, a submachine gun. He fired both with horrifying accuracy and weaved through oncoming fire with a speed and dexterity that was utterly inhuman.
Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel...
Barnes reared up and let loose a barrage of bullets as the man’s attention was directed toward Lily. They clattered against his armor, denting and scraping it, and in response he snapped his pistol in Barnes direction and squeezed the trigger twice. Both bullets blew gaping holes in the ork’s skull.
A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky...
Lily let out a cry of anguish and bolted forward, unsheathing her monofilament sword and pushing her cybernetic legs to their limit as she blitzed the man in black. He responded by shooting out those metal kneecaps of hers before popping a round in her jugular. For he saw the Riders coming hard... Cujo fought back the urge to vomit as he lobbed his “emergencies only” grenades over the conditioning unit he used as cover, wincing when they blew another portion of the rooftop to pieces. Surely, they had to hit SOMETHING, or SOMEONE, or-- “Blackclaw Security Company runs a tight ship.” ...and he heard their mournful cry! Cujo reached for his revolver, but the man clamped his right hand around the hacker’s neck and pulled him upward single-handedly, his left hand holstering his pistol. “A tight ship means we don’t take shit from Shadowrunners like you.” Cujo’s eyes widened as a long, serrated blade extended from within the man’s free hand. “Scream loud for the voice recorder, pal.” Yippie yi ohhhhh! “PLEASE! STOP!” Yippie yi yaaaaay! “No.” Crunch. Ghost Riders in the sky!
