Making an Influential Author

The key to making an influential author such as Lovecraft himself includes many characteristics such as the following:

-Someone weird -Use of actual mythos -Someone lonely and introverted -Have the ability to intertwine stories and unintentionally connect them -Have the ability to create your own cosmic world.

Many of these things are one of a kind and it is for that reason that Lovecraft had such an impact on the literary genre. He introduced a concept in which stories are their own, but are in some ways connected to one another, creating his own world basically. Not only did he introduce it well, but he also executed it well and was able to display the distinction of novel and mythos. His very creative work was original which became something other authors could utilize. As his work began to mature and gain more attention after his death, his world of mythos seeped its way into pop culture and other modern series such as:

-Shows -Movies -Music -Writing/books (like other authors such as Stephen King)

This week my partner and I chose to do a Gossip Article. This was not a hard decision to make being that there was a huge fight that went out. And knowing teenagers they will choose sides and gossip on who could have started it. So we based the gossip article on choosing sides between Ozzy and Tennyson. We also chose this because we felt that we saw a huge change in Tennyson. For example the reason he stood up to Ozzy is for Brew, so it shows that Tennyson cares for someone, and he won't care about his image.

I chose job application because brew has a talent for writing poems and the book is starting to wind down and he should put his life experiences on paper and do it for a living.

I chose newspaper article because it related to when uncle Hoyt died and Brewster didn't take his pain and left, but I twisted up the story to make it sound like a big deal.

Genre 5: Snapguide Jack and Airica This week we chose to do a "How To Manipulate Your Brother into Doing Your Dirty Work" Snapguide. The reason we chose this was because in the reading, Brönte manipulated Tennyson into doing all of her "dirty" work. From this "How To" guide, we tried to reveal how we think the real manipulator in this reading, was in fact, Brönte. Even though she made it seem like Tennyson was the manipulator, by manipulating his dad and such, we wanted to show how we think Brönte manipulated Tennyson. Brönte manipulated Tennyson, to make him think that it was his idea, and make him talk to his dad, and do all the work. We also wanted to reveal that even though Brönte can be oblivious to many things, she is very clever. Not only did she come up with the idea, but she was able to go along with it, without "blowing her cover." This represents out-of-the-box thinking because we tried to show possible background behind events that happened in the story. P.S. - Travis Muryama and Airica Hayasaka have the same birthday, which is why they were chosen to play Tennyson and Brönte.
