Heyy gorgeous!!

I was wondering if you had any advice on how you plan/start your fics? (Do you plot events beforehand, or just start writing on a whim from a main idea?)

A thing I notice when I get scene ideas is that, I just start writing about it and forget that it’s only a draft because I’ll just go on and on about the scene. But after I’ve finished, I always get frustrated on how to continue since it feels forced, yk what I mean?

Basically, need help on how to keep it simple instead of constantly splurging in details on only the plotting phase, thank you!! (And it’s okay if you don’t have any, no pressure!! all love <3)

honestly most of my fics start off with me writing on a whim and seeing where it goes from there 😭😭 if its for a long fic, sometimes i do divide the scenes out in the document and put bullet points for what i plan to write for that section. other than that, my mind is like "okay i'm writing a besties to lovers fic lets GAUR"

i felt that tho!! i've had points where i would put my EVERYTHING in a single scene and when i finish i'm like holy shit i just wrote idk 6k words for one scene so how do i continue this now💀💀 it's kinda like i have to let everything out of my system, yk? an example of that for me is protocol cuz for it being such a long fic with fewer scenes, it's only long cuz the scenes themselves are long LMAO

as for the frustration on how to continue it, i guess you can maybe think about it like this, depending on the scene

where does this scene happen in the story?

what led up to it?

what changes after it?

that last one is the biggest thing!! if the scene doesn't change something, it's really easy to get stuck because there's nowhere for the story to go after. also, you can always summarize first then expand later, maybe writing down "okay they argue here, they grow distant, they miss each other blah blah, and confession" if that helps maybe HAHDHSAD. but the whole going on and on part about writing isn't bad at all it just means you're really immersed into the plot!! it's fanfiction so we are allowed to go crazy !!!
