Okay, well, I would be kind for you. I would reject the impulses to indulge in my violent nature for you. I would wake up and get out of bed an hour early every morning to make coffee and breakfast for you. I would be there for you no matter what. I would leave the light on for you until you felt safe and I would hold you so tight until you felt at peace. Sure, I can be strong, if I have to. I can fight if it’s truly necessary but when I think about the way that I love you, it does not make me feel violent. It makes me feel quiet and gentle and calm.

I feel I have been praying forgiveness into the air of my existence. I realised that I have been holding grudges of hurt that I no longer want to hold. I realised that my ways of self-defence in the face of pain haven't been the healthiest. I can be non-confrontational, then explosive, I try to feel power in the face of my defenselessness by totally cutting people off. Usually without any resolve. I do not want to cling to pain anymore. I want to be free. It is unfair to our community to just cut one another off. It fragments us even further in our fragmentation.

Punch Pot vs. Teapot, Earthenware with lead glaze, ca. 1765, from the Staffordshire region of England.  Though these cauliflower-inspired pots look very similar, the punch pot is larger and represents an attempt to domesticate 18th-century men who were behaving badly at punch houses while women attended polite tea parties.  Here is a brief, interesting article about that.
