What do you think about the theory that Mclellan and Thomas Marshall key were working behind the scenes to undermine the Union army to force a compromise with the South?

I don't believe it. To me, McClellan had a timidity borne out of a desire not to cause another Bull Run, letting his overestimation of Confederate forces talk him out of attacking even when numerically superior and in a good position to break Confederate lines, and in numerous delays to make everything 'perfect' because he believed that flaws would be exploited by Lee; these delays severely rankled Lincoln and Staunton. In 1864, when the peace Democrats seized the party, McClellan couldn't hide his contempt for their platform, which suggests to be that he wanted a victory and to be able to dictate terms to the enemy, not a compromise.

So to me, I believe in Hanlon's Razor - don't attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence.

- We need a telescope, but can we afford the big one?  I’ll talk to John about it and we can decide if we should pool our resources and go for the big one.

- John’s my mate, through thick and thin, I trust him with my life. He’s a good sim.

- The girls would be doing so much better in private school.  They should be meeting sims of quality, so they can move up in the world. 

- I don’t want their future tied to poor schooling. They should be meeting the best of the best. Some day they’ll thank me.
