Recently, there had been a beautiful orb weaver with an absolutely STUNNING web in the drive through window at my job. I had affectionately called it Harold.
Today, I had to relocate Harold because one of my coworkers has very bad arachnophobia. I did it as unobtrusively as possible, by gently scooping it into a cup and relocating it to a nearby tree. Yet, I feel a bit guilty and worried.
I wanted to know, will Harold be okay in its new spot? Will it be able to make another web and flourish? I know orb weavers generally linger on buildings or in gardens, but I don't know if they're fine with trees. I really didn't want my coworker to follow up on her word of hurting it... Please let me know whether I did the right thing!
Relocating an orbweaver is absolutely fine. They re-build their webs regularly, both in the same location and sometimes somewhere new. Harold will find another good place to build their web with no problems :)
