I typically don’t like the “you people can’t do anything” post even in its original context but even in its original context it was about responding to someone asking for an unreasonable accommodation. “Halloween costumes are stressful for people with ADHD” The op wanted to make a point that a simple, fun activity shouldn’t be done for its inaccessibility for people with ADHD. This is an unfair accommodation to ask of people, hence the sarcastic response.

You understand how this is different?

“I sometimes ask people for help making phone calls because I get anxious. I prefer to email” REASONABLE

“I don’t drive, and have to rely on public transport or rides from friends and family” REASONABLE

“I need help with hygiene tasks” REASONABLE!!!

Disabilities. Disable. People asking for and creating reasonable accommodation for themselves is a GOOD thing. That person making a vent post about how scared they are to call their doctor probably isn’t going to feel more confident after you shame them.

Disabilities also fall on a severity spectrum? Just because you manage to power through your symptoms doesn’t mean someone else can. I am utterly fed up with people saying “Well I’m autistic and I can do this”. Great. Good for you. For every trait of autism you say is a stereotype, I promise you there is someone experiencing it.
