😨 — Their biggest fear

Gerdie's greatest fear is to be considered useless, or obsolete to the point of no longer being helpful. It's a fear that's plagued him ever since leaving his home planet (no thanks to what happened before he left), and despite having grown and changed, deep down he can't escape that fear completely.

I've literally never made a character playlist before (it's not really my thing), but one of my friends finally convinced me to take a crack at it. So here's my attempt for the characters of Far From Home! It remains a mystery if I'll actually listen to it more than once XD

Feel free to give it a look if you're interested, it's not very long! I might add more songs over time as I discover them but this is it for now. I'd be curious to hear which songs you think correspond to which character(s), hehe.

This was the result of a silly doodle session with my pals @jazzleeillustrates and @blairaptor, where we all created popsicle versions of our OCs for fun. I had a blast drawing these sweet treats! And I'm unashamed to admit that melty Baz is my favorite of the bunch XD

I'm very excited to add a new character to the Far From Home roster and introduce you to my salesman-turned-conman, Auvellius Phibbs!

I've been chipping away at this on and off for a little over two months, so it feels incredibly satisfying to finally release this man into the world XD I've actually had Auvellius for more than two years but it's just taken me a while to find my footing with his refs (which might make more sense if you continue reading). Still, he's only the fourth of six crew mates planned for FFH's main cast so I've got more work to do down the line. Hopefully the refs for the two remaining ladies won't take nearly as long as this schmuck, haha!

Auvellius has some fun albeit lengthy lore, so more info can be found below for those interested c:

Auvellius Phibbs used to be a salesman and was pretty well known throughout the vast network of galaxies, mainly due to his connections with a plethora of wealthy clientele. He maintained good relations with his clients and upheld a good reputation - even if his dealings weren't exactly good. However, something mysterious happens while meeting with one of his clients which causes him to be accused of swiping an important possession from the buyer, so now he's on the run from the client's cronies who plan to cut him down and take back what he stole. He eventually (reluctantly) abandons his salesman shtick due to the circumstances and finds himself in a life of swindling and petty crime, a change which comes easily thanks to his existing skills.

In actuality, Auvellius didn't steal anything...rather he was infected with an alien parasite when it forcibly entered his body as a means of escaping its prison. The particular client Auvellius was working with owned somewhat of a personal (and definitely unethical) zoo for rare and exotic creatures, and the sentient parasite Kresh was fed up with being trapped there. So taking advantage of Auvellius' ignorance and proximity, Kresh used his remaining strength to slip through an unseen flaw in his enclosure and wormed his way into Auvellius' body, forcing the salesman to become his host. Despite being at odds in those first moments of connection, Kresh managed to latch onto Auvellius's mind and mentally persuaded him to escape, seeing as his client was bent on subduing both of them.

Due to the unique nature of his species, Kresh has the ability to meld with Auvellius' body on both a mental and physiological level. This means he can integrate himself into all of Auvellius' internal systems/processes, as well as communicate with Auvellius freely through a shared mental link.

The two are able to escape Auvellius' client together only because of a new ability granted to Auvellius by Kresh's presence; when Auvellius intentionally relinquishes control of his body and Kresh takes his place, Auvellius can undergo a transformation that allows him to grow three times in size. With this size comes a new strength and some extra physical features. Kresh can only work with the canvas he's given, so Auvellius' parasite form closely resembles his original body in many ways.

Whenever Kresh is in control, Auvellius is still present as a voice in the back of his head - much like how Kresh sounds to Auvellius on a regular basis. In general Auvellius must be willing to let Kresh take over for any change to occur, which requires trust from both parties. Unfortunately, the two don't get along super well at first thanks to their highly conflicting personalities. Auvellius and Kresh realize they need to learn to tolerate each other if they're going to work together and be a successful team.

Unlike what one might expect, Kresh doesn't have any malicious intentions or uncontrollable habits as a parasite. In fact, he's actually the voice of reason between him and Auvellius. His direct needs involve staying connected to a host and getting the chance to 'stretch his legs' by taking control every once in a while, rather than siphoning energy or resources. So protecting Auvellius is a very good thing. Auvellius himself is a shady, narcissistic sweet-talker who gets himself into trouble quite often (as is typical for a conman), and Kresh often ends up advising against his decisions with an unexpected wisdom. It's a fun twist compared to what's generally expected from fictional alien parasites.

There's more I could share but for fear of rambling on too long, that's the gist of it. I really look forward to doing more with these two down the line!

If the Far From Home gang went to a space Cafe that served cute/fancy desserts, what would each of them order?

Ooh! This is tough, mainly because I’m a very simple person and am therefore unfamiliar with fancy desserts. But after doing a bit of googling, here’s what I’ve got.

(Note that the majority of these desserts are French in origin. Of course, France doesn’t exist in the Far From Home universe, so I imagine these desserts are merely the fictional equivalent. I’m not creative enough to come up with new desserts on my own, haha.)

Starting with Toko, she’s someone who loves the natural sweetness of fruit. So I could see her ordering some puff pastry tarts that incorporate a native alien fruit! Otherwise, I imagine cupcakes with bright colors and fun sprinkles might catch her attention.

For Gerdie, he’d likely order some type of mousse (probably chocolate) or beignets! I think he’s the kind of guy who loves a creamy filling.

Baz veers more toward desserts that have a crunch, so little bite-sized treats like chouquettes would be on his list. I could also see him enjoying croquembouche simply because it’s an impressive and insane dessert for one person! The sweet and bitter taste of salted caramel is something I imagine Baz might enjoy.

Also, a big thank you to the *mystery* anon (you know who you are) for sending so many questions and asking about my characters. Things have been pretty difficult as of late, so these asks have really brightened my mood in the midst of everything ;w;

Would Baz, Toko and Gerdie prank each other for April Fool's day?? 😂

That's a great question! Unfortunately, it's one not so easily answered due to differences in how holidays are recognized in the Far From Home universe. Hundreds of alien races exist within FFH, each of which is associated with at least one culture and planet, though life is never quite that simple. So, to give an example, the U.S. federal government recognizes 11 holidays per year. Now multiply that by 195 countries on planet Earth - that gives Earth 2,145 different holidays in total (if we ignore the fact that some holidays overlap between countries). Sure, that's a bit of an overestimation, but if every single alien race demanded to celebrate 2,145 holidays over the course of a standard intergalactic year, practically every day would be considered a holiday. As a result, the Intergalactic Government only recognizes a select few generalized holidays during a standard intergalactic year, but individual cultures are welcome to celebrate specific holidays on their planets as usual. The system is flawed and gets a lot of flack (and rightly so), considering space government just doesn't want people taking days off of work unexpectedly and messing with the flow of trade and commerce. This means that many 'lesser' holidays (ie. ones that aren't federally recognized, such as April Fool's Day) remain generally unknown to most folks out in space, and having origins in wildly different cultures means that similarities between holidays are uncommon. So it's possible that the FFH crew wouldn't even be familiar with a holiday like April Fool's Day, if it happened to exist in that universe. But if we were to shove all that worldbuilding aside and, for the sake of this question, consider what might happen if the crew recognized April Fool's Day as a holiday? They’d absolutely prank each other.

I feel like Gerdie would be the most into it, starting with harmless pranks and introducing Toko to the concept, before they both start setting little traps for each other! And contrary to what you might think, Baz would participate too - though he’d be very subtle and methodical about it. Gotta put all those smuggling skills to good use, right? Baz and Gerdie would definitely be the best at sniffing out suspicious activity before a prank comes to fruition, whereas Toko (being so young) would fall for pranks all the time. But she’d love the shenanigans!

What are all of your main OCs' love languages (going by the five love languages theory)?

Either I got very similar asks from a single person, or you two should hit each other up because you're on the same wavelength XD

I ended up answering these according to the Five Love Languages theory since that was the first ask I received of the two. So here's what I came up with:

Do Baz and Gerdie ever take Toko to Space Disney World (where Mickey Mouse is lime green and has 200 eyes but is otherwise the same lovable Mickey Mouse)?

I can certainly imagine Toko begging to go to Space Disney World (or its equivalent) once she learns what it is! She'd enjoy a lot of amusement park rides and character meet & greets, and maybe Baz would use his strength to help win her a prize from one of the rigged games. Until the crew accidentally uncovers some sort of sinister plot taking place within the bowels of the park, causing them to get caught up in the action despite expecting a simple day of fun. That's just the consequence of being main characters, haha.

If I had more time to spare, it would actually be really fun to design an alien mascot for an amusement park out in space! Maybe someday. In the meantime, I’ll give you a prize if you edit an image of Mickey Mouse and somehow manage to fit 200 eyes on his person :)
