A long-time participant of the International Hannover Trade Fair, Russia attended as a partner country for the first time in 2005. The President called it an acknowledgment of the high standards of the Russian industry, science, and technology.
Over 130 Russian companies presented their achievements at an enormous venue of some 7,000 square metres. The President expressed confidence that the Russian participants would use the fair to establish direct contacts with their foreign colleagues and to sign new contracts.
