You know what I'm most proud of from editing my book »Deutschland Schwarz Weiß« for its updated 10th anniversary edition coming out in March? Not the copy editing because that's my job. I'm most proud of * having learned to edit an epub in #html in #Calibre * having designed and produced the book cover as a manual screen print * having finalized the cover artwork in #GraphicConverter (ok and a bit of Illustrator :-) ) * having done the complicated (compared to what I'm used to) formatting and typesetting in #Libreoffice. I did a lot of things that scared me, and most of them were totally possible with freeware and search engines. I learned and grew a lot in the process. I overcame my "but I'm no … designer" block and just did it simply because the new edition needs to come out asap. I'm not even "proud" of the results. Ok, I'm satisfied and really really like how it came out. But proud™ I'm of having done 3-4 things that I was certain I couldn't do. I want more autonomy in publishing. After a ten year contract had run out and 5 reprints and an audio version, »Deutschland Schwarz Weiß« is still relevant, sadly so (because it explains German racism). I didn't look for a new publisher. I thought "I should be able to handle this on my own as well" and now I believe this could actually be true :-) \o/ #screenprint #nerdpride #aspieproject #publishing #schland #germanracism
