Being largely oblivious to German media for the last decade or so I only recently became aware that
- Joko Winterscheidt still exists, huh, weird
- He is trying to sell facemasks at penny, which is good for him I guess?
- wait, why is he in every commercial? He wasn't even that great on viva
- I now hate Joko Winterscheidt because I just want to listen to rockantenne in peace while I roll into a ball and dissociate, why won't he leave me alone
- youtube without ad block is actual hell, how do people cope
In case anyone was wondering what’s going on in german media atm: Provider of Condiments Knorr has decided to no longer name a shitty sauce after the german equivalent of the G-slur, and now people are afraid that cancel culture is going to raid their fridges.
Not gonna lie, customers avoiding walmart because they wanted to pack their bags themselves, and employees being pissy about stretching exercises in the morning to such an extent, that they would quit their job, is the most german reaction to an american company I can think of
Emergency Train
A friend asked what ‘Ambulance’ in english means. (We’re from Germany, so of course she asked in German) And then she answered it herself. ‘Emergency Train’ She wasn’t joking. Emergency train! I fucking can’t.
Driving in Germany
You know your driving in Germany when someone overtakes you with 150 km/h or higher..
A piece of nostalgia of my grandmother's: DAS #TELEFUNKEN 😊 If I had the room I would fight to bring it home. It is beautiful ❤️ #GermanThings #antique #RockinItOldSchool
What’s the deal with landlines?
So I just brainstormed some headcanons about MtG charcters with modern technology and when searching for one word I realized that it doesn’t seem to be that prevalent in english? The word is landline (as you might have guessed) and what really confuses me is, that I checked on numerous only dictonary-site-thingys and they all have an extra entry for german landline?
Like, what’s the deal with that? Is there a cultural difference? Are our landlines known to be better or worse than yours? Are we the only country actually maintaing an elaborate network of landline communication?!
I’m freaking out about this now holya shit
