What the hell was the deal with Geronimo Jones?
Created by Tony Tallarico with art by José Delbo Geronimo Jones, not to be confused with the singer whose album they find on the island in the bunker on Lost, was a short lived Western hero that Charlton Comics published in 1971.
His story was that on returning from the Civil War he finds that outlaws have murdered his family he then proceeds to have a nine issue quest to find the leader of those villains… The Man with One Eyebrow.
During this saga he deals with a fight with a grizzly bear that gives him amnesia so that he end up working for Mister No Eyebrow, has to deal with pirates of a type that should have disappeared 200 years before he was born also from time to time the story gets a bit confusing as things are stated as taking place in 1846, two years before the real Geronimo was born and fourteen years before the Civil War. Plus the grizzled biscuit eating son of a gun on the cover is suppose to be at times 17 years old.
Wait what?
Any who, he was sort of Charlton’s Bronze Age answer to Jonah Hex, and Bat Lash being a sort of off kilter western hero whose stories sometimes got a little odd, and who ended his saga in issue 9 by settling down in a random small western town.
