The question rang in her head, the waitress trembling violently
against a stone wall, crouched and hidden away in the dark.
Hands flying over head at the sound of an explosion, she
pressed her arms over her ears, tears dripping down her
cheeks as her lips quivered. She was alone and waiting,
heart beating rapidly. It was these moments alone when
she was reminded that she did know who.
'Your real name is hidden.
It burns in the stars.'
'The man who makes people better..."
'Should I trust you, sir?
You--who change your voice so easily."
'If the Doctor never visited us, never chosen this place.
Would anybody have died?'
'Maybe that's what happens if you
touch the Doctor. Even for a second.'
'KILLER of his own kind.'
'The man who keeps running..."
Memories that echoed within her mind.
Things she had never meant to see.
But she did. All because she was
a f r a i d.
The pain, the heartbreak---the loss.
Hugging her knees close to her chest,
Ellanor shut her eyes tight as she began to
sob weakly, attempting to keep her eyes dry
on the ends of her coat. "Why?" She asked
aloud to herself, repeating the question as
her voice broke, muffled into the fabric,
'Oh, Ellanor! Super Ellanor!'
'And you, Ellanor…are the most ordinary
extraordinary person I've ever met.'
'Everyone always thinks that when you live as long as I do,
and you lose as much as I’ve lost, that you become used to it,
that you stop feeling it. They’re wrong. Every person, every single one,
who slips through my fingers hurts so much more than the last. And I
can’t do it anymore! And I’m sorry if that makes me selfish, or – or or cruel, but'
It wasn't fair--the universe. To make someone so wonderful
suffer so much. Her heart broke for him. It really did.
For someone to be so grand, so shining---Be so misunderstood.
"You--are not a monster." She whispered to herself,
breathing lightly, cheek resting on her knees.
"And I swear--We will get out of this. I won't ever
leave you so alone " Ellanor's eyes shut tight again,
squeezing herself as she cried,
"Just please--Get us out of this."
