bucky sighed , shoving his hands into his pockets && then GESTURING for his best friend to follow regardless , walking with his head down .

It had been weeks since the fight. Days since they got to Wakanda. Their wounds had healed. The wiring in his arm grounded. But it still wasn’t right. He wasn’t right. Buck had taken steps backwards since being here, only talking to Steve, and even then he could go hours without speaking. Without moving. Without doing much outside of his own head.

Buck was in his usual spot, half curled around the railing of the top floor. Unsurprised when he hard familiar footsteps behind him.

It was funny how, when she was able to be free, she gave herself chains again.

Buck was right-- she’d had to have been in there for at least a day. Sleeping, sleeping, so desperately sleeping away days. All Steve could see was a big grey blanket with dark curls poking out of the top.
