Gert van Hoef is a virtuoso organist! The Dutch have turned out some fantastic organists and composers. I wonder whether van Hoef has played Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, an astonishing organist-composer from the early Baroque.
In the above video, he introduces himself. I love his grandfather’s advice on how to become good at the organ: “Lots of practice, son.” Well worth watching for organ fans. Needless to say, now is a great time to support brilliant artists such as Van Hoef, who bring and preserve so much fine European cultural heritage through these performances!
(P.S The family parts are so sweet).
Organist Gert van Hoef delivers an outstanding concert. Credit also to his wife, Marjolein van Hoef who worked hard on registration and page-turning! In the Chat, we were all stunned by the quality of this performance. Well done to both!
