LoZ: TotK - Gerudo Language 3: Verbs
I've been seeing a lot of additions on the part of fans & I hope people keep going with this.
Anyway, I am basing this all off of both official Nintendo approved words, a bunch of other people's ideas, as well as a mix of Egyptian, Middle Eastern, Sanskrit, & Hindu words & random shit that I pull from betwinxt my booty-cheeks. So, be warned.
For the rest of my Gerudo Language Series, go here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, & Part 7.
GeruLang: Diacritic & Diagraphic Characters
Words with a * at the front indicate that I'm not the one who thought it up. Basically, a disclaimer.
A lot of them are likely from Va Ehenihv's site, so if anyone from there comes across this & wishes for me to remove some things from here, I am more than willing to discuss.

Here is the Gerudo alphabet:
And this is what I think the Gerudo's numerical system would look like based on the above alphabet & my personal headcanons.

Snippet Thursday: Viper continuation
For context: in previous sections Daxter's ottsel hearing and Jak's eco-assisted eyes picked up a deadly snake camouflaged near Damas’s throne. It didn't get there by itself. Having foiled the assassination attempt, Damas keeps the boys with him to help identify the would-be assassin. As it will turn out in a part I haven't written yet, there are two: one is an agent of Veger disguised as a monk who wants to destabilize the Spargan nation so Haven can control it. The other is an exiled Krimzon Guard who thinks Damas is too soft and who has been promised his old rank back if he kills him.
Obviously, this means tensions are about to be very high between Spargus and Haven. A note: the language I have Spargans using for ceremonies comes from some conlangers on reddit who have been expanding the Gerudo language from Breath of the Wild. I chose Gerudo because "Sabaa'geru" or "Evening People" sounded like something that over generations could become the word Spargus.
Check out their work HERE and HERE!
"Hey boss!" Daxter hopped out of the elevator and made straight for the pools of water. "Aaaaahhh. Sweet relief."
Damas stifled a chuckle at the boy's antics. He was better suited to the heat than he pretended, but he'd never begrudge Daxter the use of the water. By the time he'd looked away, Jak was already halfway to the dais with a spring in his step. Something rattled in his hand.
"I didn't expect to see you today, Jak," Damas greeted him, "What's that you've got?"
Jak held up an intricate band of bones, fangs and claws symmetrically spaced between tiny vertebra and polished until they shone. "It's done!"
Carefully, he passed it to Damas, watching him eagerly for his opinion. Damas turned the band necklace over in his hands, eyebrows raised.
"You have some skill, my boy! I'm impressed with the detail! How long did it take you?"
"Not too long. The fangs were the last piece I needed. See?" Jak leaned over his arm to point to the Dust Demon viper's fangs, forming a circle at the front that mimicked the emblem on the tower door.
What if Equal Lady (remember she's not Gerudo) goes out of her way to learn the Gerudan language, but she hides it from Ganondorf so she can surprise him (she gets lots of help from other Gerudo or from old books, though). That way, when she proceeds to woo (read: tease) him in his own tongue, he's all the more surprised. (Hopefully, pleasantly so.)
Like, it’s obvious that she's not just repeating the material of old poets. Because the words still sound & feel like her, just more flowery & in the style of Zajal with perfect (if slightly accented) Gerudan, which shows how spur of the moment & from the heart her words are.
She seems to praise things he hadn't considered to be attractive about himself. Things like how rare his real smile is, how it causes his eyes to shine so bright that they put the sun to shame, which she says makes it all the more lovely & priceless to behold. The way his lips stretch ever so slight, but real across his face. How his laughter rumbles like storm clouds in his chest. The way he moves, leonine in nature & the way he stalks his prey in battle like a predator across the dunes in pursuit of his anticipated kill, both intimidating & majestic.
Noting how his brows furrow & his lips pucker when he's thinking deeply about something as his fingers scratch his chin/through the fine hairs of his beard (depending on the Dorf). How it makes her want to peck the inviting petals of his lips until he's left breathless. How his mind is a beautiful, complex riddle surely crafted by the ancients that she wishes to slowly solve as they discover their joined futures together.
How the roughness of his hands draw a map of the hardships he's endured to obtain the immeasurable strength at his beck & call. Yet those same large hands that so easily slice through enemies/armies, are also warm & wonderful when his fingers thread through her own.
All the while, he feels the open & honest appreciation in her bedroom eyes burn into his skin & the warm intent.
If this were Undertale, she’d be hitting that Flirt button HARD.
(She is very intentionally trying to make him turn the color of a ripe tomato. Does she succeed or do the Dorfs clock on & get her back? And if he decides to turn the tables, how would he wax poetic? Personally, I see him comparing her to the moon or a storm. The moon because it's considered the most beautiful word in the Arabic language, thus, he'd be calling her exceptionally beautiful, & a storm because I see the Gerudo viewing them as both beautiful & dangerous, which would be a high compliment to them, I think.)

WW Ganondorf would be so shocked at hearing the Gerudo language again. He is the last of his kind, as far as he knows, so to hear the language of his people once more? He would soften so much. He would grow quiet, murmuring back words of love and affirmation, stepping close to cup your cheek. You can see in his eyes the depth of his appreciation and love. He doesnt even pay attention to the flowery words, just the fact that you learned his language makes him melt with love. <3
OoT Ganondorf is impressed you learned! Slightly surprised, but of course you would want to learn your lover's language. The Gerudo are still around here, so it is more easily accessible for learning. He would be the one to correct your enunciation and grammar, though he does it with a softer smirk than usual. He is the type to gently mock mispronunciation, before stating firmly you would join him in lessons from now on. He purrs in the Gerudo tongue, and finally gives compliments for the wonderful surprise. <3
TP Ganondorf kinda... freezes a bit when he hears the Gerudo tongue from your lips. It has been centuries since he had heard it, and now that you revealed you know, it kinda gives him flashbacks. He's quick to recover, however. He acknowledges the flirting and softness, but he now wants to see how well you know the tongue. He takes you back to the bedroom to see if you can recall the words under "tense" situations. (The man wont admit that hearing his lover speak his mother tongue did things to him.)
HW Ganondorf is surprised, especially since there are so few Gerudo left (Never see any in game... Sad.) He listens, before rambling in his own tongue about your skill in battle, how watching you train does things to him no other does. He appreciate the compliments, but flattery earns no points from him. He is more pleased that you know his mother tongue. Now during meetings with Ghirahim and Zant, he mutters things to you about their idiocy and bickering.

What do you think of the new Gerudo pronunciation tidbit we got from TOTK? I know you were constructing a Gerudo conlang a while back so I'm interested to see what you thought of this.
I think it's wonderful actually! I love the use of the new sounds and the slang terms. Languages do develop and change with time, and it makes sense that post botw/during totk we see that this holds true for the Gerudo language as well. I particularly like the cultural implications of slang not being professional for soldiers to use. It's just a little bit of depth to the culture and the works the language represents!
