Every now and then a post will get strangely popular on here that's like, "I'm so tired of everyone saying we should uplift platonic relationships AND then saying that romance makes stories worse!" or like "Reminder that romantic relationships can be just as important as platonic ones! ♥️" And ive seen this SEVERAL times at this point lately and im just so baffled. Like can we be serious. Can we be so serious.
I simply do not think anybody outside of fringe aspec communities have ever said something like this. Niche internet aspec communities complaining about the incredibly dominant force of society which pushes on EVERYONE the idea that romantic relationships, both in fiction and in reality, are the most important relationship in one's life and that Everybody should have one, is not a problem that needs addressing. Like. What. The pushback against romance and its importance in stories is microscopic in comparison to Literally Everything Else In The World.
Like. This is not any sort of issue that validly needs any fixing in the slightest. If you are bothered by aspec people who are constantly hurt by the mainstream deciding to criticize The Mainstream, then you can just look away and go back to doing The Mainstream.
