The Avengers ("Get-a-way") / Linda Thorson as Tara King
While we all remember Emma Peel when thinking of The Avengers and 1960s fashion, her successor Tara King wore some pretty cool outfits as well. (And, it must be admitted, some truly dreadful ones.)
I feel like culottes might be due for a comeback sometime--or one could argue they have already come and gone in some of the wider-legged capri styles of the last decade or so. This outfit is from 1968, but definitely looks forward to 1970s styles. Notice the faint stripe in the shirt, the neck scarf, and the large belt buckle.
I recently rewatched all available episodes of The Avengers and was pleasantly surprised to find that Tara wasn't nearly as useless as I'd remembered. She's usually pretty competent right up to the climax of the episode. Even then, she's no worse than a lot of female characters on 1960s TV.
I do really love this moment when Ezdorf claims that he and Steed are the same, and Steed rejects this notion utterly.
Ok, Patrick in this episode tho...
I just like the dynamism of this shot.
Concerned Steed.
He’s just unnaturally pretty in this episode.
