I remember reading that we actually didn't lose that much in the library of alexandria fire, both b/c there was more than one fire and because the records were copied in other places or something?

I may be completely wrong about this but I asked about this at work (I work at an archaeology museum) and the general consensus is that yes we lost a buttload of stuff in the fire.

HOWEVER. There is debate about the fire and that there might have been multiple fires, earthquakes, and various attacks (Julius Caesar was in charge of one attack, but there were others that attacked like centuries later) that led to its demise. As for the second location, people used the Serapeum of Alexandria until that was also destroyed. No idea how much was lost there.

I’m not an expert though so I might be off on some of this info?

The pay is shit, but the schoolkids are Adorable and the surrounding nature is to die for.
