You can tell me I'm wrong, you can say I'm right. You can have no opinion whatsoever. I don't care. Because I just need to get this out there.
Just because you are overweight does not mean that it is your fault.
Seriously. I've come to know so many people in my life that have had no control over their weight. They were born "big", they had always been "big", economically they became big, depression/an eating disorder/anxiety/ made them big. There were things out of their control that had made them the size they are now.
If you had a choice would you choose to be big? No.
So why do you think that these people "chose to be big"? Sometimes they can't always eat better, sometimes they do eat healthy and still nothing happens, they exercise, they try different supplements, different diets, juices, mixes, cleanses, everything. And nothing works. And then there are times where they are told to just get a surgery. those aren't cheap. Not everyone can afford to just go have some kind of weight loss surgery. But they are trying to lose weight. Which, really is amazing. Because they have everything going against them and yet they are still trying. While most of us are "naturally skinny", "Don't look fat", have the ability to eat healthy or have healthier choices readily available to us, don't have a mental disorder that causes us to over eat or to eat in such a way that we end up gaining weight.
I just want people to think before they say things like "Well s/he shouldn't have chosen to be fat."
It's not always a choice. Words like that hurt. Be nice goddammit. And instead of criticizing someone why not be nice, try to help them; because maybe it's a friend that they need to help influence them, maybe it's because they're scared to, afraid that they'll be made fun of if they try.
It's not always their fault, sometimes it's ours.
