❤️: what’s the working title?

Well The Songbird’s Refrain has a real title, the first Sisters of Hecate book doesn’t even have a working title, and I’ve already talked about Morning’s Edge ... So let me give you a little sneak preview into what I may work on next: its working title is Fairbrooke Bridge!

💛: what is the title based on?

The story takes place in the town of Fairbrooke, and there is a bridge. Boom.

💔: give a brief character bio of your 3-5 MCs

Lydia: snarky, independent, a little rebellious but never does anything with the intention of being destructive. That said, she knows how to throw a punch and isn’t afraid to do it.

Eden: private, mysterious, matches the enthusiasm levels of whoever she’s talking to. Knows a lot about the forest in Fairbrooke, but not much about the world beyond it.

💝: who has your favorite character arch? give a brief summary

What is the working title of your book? Eosophobia

Where did the idea for your book come from?  It draws from a lot of places, but I guess the two biggest inspirations were Fallout: New Vegas and The Demon in the Freezer by Richard Preston.  I’m a biology major and super fascinated by infectious diseases, so between that and Preston’s book I knew I wanted to write about a world ravaged by bioterrorism. 

What genre is your current work in progress? Adult science fantasy, with biopunk and post-apocalyptic elements. 

Choose the actors for your movie rendition.  MADS MIKKELSEN FOR OSWALD 2K18.  Seriously, I have no idea what Oswald looks like, so Mads just gets the honorary casting (also, his voice would be perfect for Death, right?)  I’d also love Richard Armitage for Viktor!  But other than that, I have no idea who to cast lol

Give a one-sentence synopsis of your book.  Bored after the apocalypse, Death sets in motion a series of events to demolish budding society in the Pacific Northwest only to be (unintentionally) stopped by four different groups, led by an idiot survivalist, a mutated merchant, a war-bent runaway slave and a pyromaniac. 

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agent? By an agent, hopefully!  I’m aiming for traditional publishing with this project. 

How long did it take you to write the first draft? In progress!  So far, it’s been about 4 months. 

What other books would you compare your story to? Ahh, probably The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie (the whole The First Law trilogy, really).  They’re different genres (Abercrombie’s is fantasy/adventure, and mine’s science fantasy) but I think there are stylistic comparisons and the set-up of the trilogy (lots of characters/multi PoV, with somewhat subtle interweaving of the PoVs) is similar too! 

Who or what inspired you to write the book? I wanted to explore an apocalyptic world where the focus wasn’t on the apocalypse, just on the kind of the people who survived in it--and I also really wanted to write something that drew on a bit of biology, even if it isn’t a focus.  It was one of those “write the story you want to read” things!

What else about your book might pique a reader’s interest? 

Death came out to have a good time and is honestly feeling really attacked right now

No the author will not apologize for putting that on the list

Death literally “helps” characters work through their personal problems and highlights both the best and worst in humanity

Everyone is both a hero and a villain, including the young medic who’s alarmingly good with a scalpel, the coffee-addicted mutant, and the painter trying to make his mom proud

Explosives, snipers, forest fires, and tinnitus

A #ownvoices cast with mixed race and LGBT+ characters

A story about overcoming abuse and developing (a little too much) self esteem

A story about accepting failure, and still finding it in oneself to try again

Sacrus is a seer. He is also a painter. He escaped from a city after he snitched on his grandpa for committing murder.

Arisish was abandoned in a thorny bush at birth. He was rescued by a cult.

Neeva is the queen of Kanvura and she controls a steam powered metal dragon!!!!!

Catching up with these asks- thanks for asking these! :D I answered 21 and 29 here, so I'll link to those.

33.) Have you ever killed a main character?Normally I'd say no, because I don't kill off anyone really because I write fun, silly stories, but I kinda sorta do in book 1. "Kinda sorta" because it doesn't really work 100% because of Plot keeping the character partially alive, then said character gets better anyway. Ugh, that's wonderfully vague, isn’t it? Basically yes, I've killed a character, but the character doesn't stay dead long.

Although one of the main-ish characters in my next trilogy is dead, but he starts the story that way because he’s a ghost. That means I did technically kill him off. ;)

36.) Last sentence you wroteI didn't do any writing today, so this would be in the chapter of the Soulmate AU I shared yesterday. "I really want to make it have a button that does something smarfy." (It's not the last line of the chapter, but it is the last sentence I wrote since I went in and added it when I was done.)

So your blog is amazing, and your WIPs are awesome, and I was just wondering if you have any advice for actually consistently posting about your WIPs? Because you're really good at it and it's something I struggle with. Thank you!

If you were planning to butter me up at the beginning of this ask, it definitely worked. Well done (and thank you!).

Tips on Consistently Posting about your WIPs

I think the main thing that helps my blog generate so much content is that I am constantly thinking about my wips. So if you’re like me and your WIPs are constantly on your mind, take those thoughts and post them! Even if they’re super short. Some of my recent posts have been one or two sentences long.

Then you can either reblog them again later and expand upon the thought you had, or pay attention to the reblogs and talk with other people about that thought! 

Not every one of your random thoughts or character tidbits will get traction, and that’s okay. This particular method is more about quantity over quality.

Next, don’t be afraid to reblog things again and again! Obviously you want to take some time in between, so you’re not spamming the same content over and over, but if you’re having a slow time and can’t think of what to say? Reblog some of your better posts, moodboards, favorite or funny posts of yours, whatever!

Whenever I reblog things like worldbuilding posts or whatever, they usually get some attention and maybe spawn some asks from newer followers who weren’t around when I originally posted them. Voila!

Ask games and tag games are your friend! Can’t think of topics to talk about? Look! Entire lists of topics that other people have put together specifically for you to use!

And if you don’t get tagged in stuff or asked things from the games? Look at the list and pick a topic to talk about on your own. Look at the general format of tag games, what they talk about, and do that. Use them as inspiration and adapt them into your own posts! (with credit, of course)

See someone else’s post that reminds you of yours? Reblog, comment on their thing, and add on your own! As a hypothetical example…

Maybe a mutual is talking about their lesbian oc that day. You can add onto that post, engage with your mutual and comment on their oc, and then talk about your own lesbian oc! You get to talk with your friends and share about your stuff.
