it sometimes may be offense or maybe discomfort and i can see that because they're often feminine terms (although i use them in a gender-neutral fashion, usually with people i'm good friends with) and it may seem a bit condescending and rude at some times. I just don't want people to take it the wrong way, and if they do and speak up about it, it's totally fine by me! it would be silly to keep using terms that upset someone if you're trying to use them in a friendly fashion.
