My Organisation which is currently hosting me as a volunteer under the Erasmus+ Volunteering Projects supported me in preparing activities for the European Youth Week.
So, i created my own project proposal and i submitted it under the organisation name. I carried out 2 events that took place in Floriana to touch upon various political issues with young people on their drive to engage in democracy in all its facets.
This aims to challenge young people, policy-makers, other youth organizations, public authorities, youth workers and other youth stakeholders to express themselves about topics such as community involvement, to be more resilient to fake news or media literacy, and also make them reflect about the importance of voting and different benefits that can affect the society.
I was so proud of myself playing the important role of ‘ambassadors’ for actions such as the European Solidarity Corps, considering the potential of the new EU Youth Dialogue that will be launched as part of the new EU Youth Strategy.
Basically, these two days were introduced with a pannel discussion with several youth guests who had to have a talk for 5 minutes around the topic of the week: Democracy and its different aspects.
Within live streaming discussions, high-level political discussions, competitions, debates, networking events, exhibitions, we have covered essential points focusing Democracy and Social Media matters through sharing opinions in the democratic arena. Our duty was to educate and inspire young people about what democracy means and how one can participate, even through simple acts of writing a letter or walking the neighbor’s dog. We seeks to raise awareness about rights if participants as European citizens which can be useful in the future.
