Great uncle John was staying with my family recently and he gave me his old 1955 Lionel train set, he even had a bunch of old manuals and catalogs. Here's a cool page, more photos to come soon when I finally have the time to set it up.

Grumman GG-1. Civil version of the SF-1 USN scout. With the navy it was the first carrier AC with retractable landing gear.  Also produced under licence in Canada and known as the Goblin

Locomotive With A View by 95wombat Via Flickr: This is the fireman’s seat in the old GG-1 locomotive. Note the rotted armrest under the hazed-over window. I thought this looked fairly uncomfortable, though I never sat in it. I remember a shouted conversation with the engineer across a track in Newark Penn Station as I photographed his locomotive in 1982 or 1983. He’d been running GG-1s for more than 30 years, so apparently one could get used to the seat.

Here it is the 3rd one in that order I purchased. Sadly this will be it for now till I get the lighting fixed, or find something to help add as a spot light.
