Hanji loves taking walks in the rain, and this exasperates Levi. He hates when everything is muddy and people track mud indoors and the floors get wet. It’s just messy and gross. But he can’t say no to Hanji and their black lab and the power of their combined puppy dog eyes. So with a groan, he gets off the couch, puts a little doggy raincoat and rain boots on Bean (Levi has one too many pictures in his phone of Bean in this get up because he’s a softie), and they head off.
The one compromise- Levi gets to hose Hanji and Bean down outside their apartment block before they head back into their flat. Water is easier to deal with compared to mud and they have towels for that. There is no way they’re bringing that much mud and organic matter in with them. Hanji and Bean enjoy it more than they should. They live in an area with a lot of old people, so they always smile when they pass by, giving Levi a look that says “wife and kid played in the mud again?”
When they’re not walking/after the walk, they do the typical. Levi makes them a mean pot of tea to share, and they grab the duvet from their bed, curl up on the couch and watch horror flicks (or murder mysteries)- rain creates the perfect ambience. Sometimes they put their comfort series they’ve watched a million times on, and Hanji would read while Levi cross stitches. Hanji’s mom taught him and he’s been doing it since. Some parts of their apartment resemble a cottage because of this and it clashes with most of their furniture but it’s cute and Hanji loves it. Sometimes they fall asleep only to be woken up by Bean licking their faces when it’s dinner time.
Since they live in an apartment block, they get a pretty good view of the streets on one side. And when it’s raining, they like to look out the window. Levi would have his head on Hanji’s lap and Bean’s head in his, and she would make up stories about the people on the streets. “Aww! She bought a bunch of roses... Perhaps she’s a baby witch casting her first love spell...” and Levi would smile and listen. Sometimes he chimes in to add nuance.
Baking. It’s good weather to bake and Hanji would get experimental in the kitchen. Sometimes it’s really bad (“god four eyes why would you think it’s okay to substitute orange juice for lemon zest?”), sometimes it’s really good. And when it’s good, they’ll always have enough to share with their neighbours. Sometimes Hanji makes pot brownies (“aren’t we too old for this Hanji? Our apartment smells like a frat house...”), but Levi doesn’t complain when he’s high out of his mind watching cartoons with Hanji and hearing her share her plot theories about Spongebob and getting a little freaked out by the theories.
There’s this doujinshi about Levi and Hanji staying in when it’s raining and just... Having sleepy sex the entire day. And I love this and believe this happens a lot in modern au? It’s part boredom, part “Hanji’s hand strayed while cuddling so here we are”. And it’s always lazy and slow and sweet and it can go on for the entire day. They take long naps in between and get takeout because they’re both too lazy to cook.
