Brooke Forbes at Grace Hopper Celebration 2019
By Justin Martell, Social Media Lead, Enterprise Talent Marketing
Fidelity’s CIO and Head of Technology for Personal Investing, Brooke Forbes, has been on-site at the Grace Hopper Celebration in Orlando, FL this week highlighting our tech capabilities and engaging with all the amazing talent there for our Leap program. Fidelity is attending the Celebration along with over 20,000 women technologists. The event has been an exciting opportunity for both Brooke and attendees to connect, learn and network.
“Change is constant at Fidelity. Our ability to move and change with markets and opportunities creates job opportunities, growth, and mobility for our associates. For me, every six months, my portfolio was always changing, people were changing, and new initiatives were coming up. It constantly feels fresh and cutting edge,” Forbes says.
We have been interviewing candidates for our accelerated tech training program, Leap. Those hired into Leap will spend 12-17 weeks fine tuning their technology skills, being immersed in the company and culture. During their time at Leap, participants get to develop relationships with their peers and senior leaders before beginning their full-time role. Brooke had the opportunity to share dinner with selected Leap candidates and discuss her experiences as a woman working in tech, along with her career path, vision for Fidelity and advice for the aspiring technologists.
“It’s one of the most highly valued professions in the market … you have to find what aspect of technology you are most passionate about and master your craft,” Brooke shared with the young group.
Aspiring Fidelity job candidates can meet with the firm in booth #1255 at Grace Hopper through Friday morning.
