A Groundhog Day au just hit me like lightning!

Imagine after going through everything and finally escaping Feb. 2nd, Phil found himself in yet another timeloop. He goes through the day so excited. Finally getting to see a sunrise with Rita who actually likes him, he is just glad for a new day. The world has never felt so full of possibilities. He stays awake all night until the next morning, not wanting to miss a second.

Then he wakes up in bed with Rita again.

GHD AU headcanon: when Alex's attempts to win over Eliza become genuine, he learns what her favorite flowers are and, the next day, he surprises her with a big bouquet of the flowers

Thats so sweet, he absolutely does, he never ever forgets what they are after the first time she mentions it. Like, he finds out when he’s trying to weasel information out of her to get her into bed but when she mentions that, he thinks its so sweet and he gets a little gooey

@fine-not-fine your ask sent me spiraling down this rabbit hole, so here’s a little AU where Bolte’s a farm hound and Red’s a fox. It got away from me. Oops.

Bolte’s a farm dog that got left behind when the people moved away. He’s been living at the farm on his own for a while; it’s part of The Wastes, a string of farms lost to debt and drought.

Red’s a fox that’s not too much older, living on his own in the nearby woods. He and Bolte meet by chance when they’re both trying to scrounge up some food, and Red takes Bolte in under his wings. 

They end up living in the old barn together, and the first summer is great, and it’s like a slice of life but animal style. 

Come fall, there’s a big fight between some coyotes moving through the area. Bolte gets into a fight with them and Red gets involved, saving Bolte’s life but getting hurt in the process.

Captain’s an old raccoon that lives out in the nearby swamps and she’s who Bolte goes too to try and get help for Red

Then the three of them have to work together to try and get through the winter

Katie!! I watched the first half of Two Towers today and I can’t stop thinking about what race/character build I would put the idiots into in a LOTR AU, so please join in my joy/misery: what characters of yours would be human, elf, dwarf, hobbit, etc and what role would they play in either the fellowship or the LOTR world as a whole??

Ahhhhh the Two Towers is such an incredible one! Sorry, but the March of the Ents always gets me. There are so many good points in that movie that have me vibing!

I would love to know where your idiots would go!

Groundhog Day style ~ I’ve rewritten this four times, because I keep finding up with alternative points??? This is the one that would be “most likely”, as in, these would match up best with the genuine roles of the LOTR series.

Captain is a human, and I think that she would probably end up in Boromir’s role. She tries so hard to be good and kind, but I think that the promise of enough power to “right the wrongs of the world” would be too tempting to her, and she’d be very easily influenced by the ring. She’s a good person at heart, though, and I can very easily see her taking Faramir’s role in the scene where Faramir “protects the halflings”.

Polynya is an elf of Lothlorian, and takes the place of Galadriel. Were she to gain the ring, she would be a queen of untold power, a queen of untold light and sharpness - but she says no to the ringbearer, and continues on to the Dying Lands with the rest of her brethren. 

Aba is a hobbit, and he’s got the unfortunate problem of being in Pippin’s position. Often in the wrong place at the wrong time, easily susceptible to dark magic’s, the bane of the White Wizard’s existence - but also the one most like the White Wizard, and the one who sees the sorrows of the world and is struggling to change it, but always manages to prove his worth by the end of it all, to prove that there is bravery in his humble goodness.

Red is also a hobbit, and would take up Merry’s role - the one most angered by the way that the Ents view the world, who is from the small, humble shire, but knows that this war will one day reach his country home and that he’s not immune to it simply because hobbits are not yet involved; who rides into battle even after being told that battle is no place for him, and who will fight until his dying day.

Celeste is the White Wizard, who knows and sees more than anyone would imagine; often prone to theatrics and riddles, but vicious in a fight both with magic and blade. They were there at the start of the journey and will be there at the end of it; mirrored in Aba’s own storyline in the strangest of ways. 

Motti is a dwarf, and would fill Gimli’s role. She’s hot-headed and fierce and at the end of the day, her own convictions and thoughts will always come before anything that her people have told her. She would be alright with dying side by side with a friend.

Ginia is an elf from Mirkwood, and takes the place of Legolas. She’s seen battle before but nothing quite like this, and she’ll go straight to Mordor with the rest of the Fellowship if that’s where this path takes her. 

Bolte is a human and would take up Aragorn’s role; the king that became a ranger, who faces death and battle head on because that is what’s best for His People, for the Fellowship that he’s come to call his own. He might not be able to destroy the ring himself, but he’ll keep safe everyone that he can in the mean time.

Blue is a hobbit, and the ring-bearer, and he’s very, very tired. He was chosen without ever wanting any part of this, and now doesn’t have any choice but to see it through to the end. He’s someone that never knew battle before this started, or hunger, or war, and the ring just might break him yet before this is over.

Locke is a human, a ranger, but he still fills up the role of Samwise; the simple gardener that never loses sight of hope, who may not be able to carry the ring himself but who can carry Blue just fine. He has no stake in this madness but ventures straight to Mount Doom all the same, because there is nowhere Blue could go where he won’t follow.

(all that being said, please also picture an au where somehow Bolte’s the one that ends up with the ring, because that’s also lovely even if it’s far less likely)

GHD: everyone should know that I have put great thought into what would happen if Bolte and Locke were zapped into oppossing worlds instead of Blue and Red, and let me tell you guys, it would changes EVERYTHING.     right off the top, Locke and Red would instantly be on the run, trying to hide out at Captain’s, probably, because with Bolte gone, all of Bastion goes to Hell in a hand basket, and Red can’t offer Locke any sort of protection.     meanwhile, Bolte is almost instantly arrested, and ends up being put into watch over at Flame’s house, where Motti and Blue are suddenly always hanging out, each trying to figure out what the Hell happened to Locke for their own respective purposes.

We Come Undone: the Capitol Council makes a move on the farm to take control of it by force, and Caleb ends up seeking sanctuary with his old friend and current Black Market Member, Ian. everything changes because they’re now both holed up in Ian’s shitty gross apartment, and the entire goal is to get the farm back. also, Caleb’s the one that loses his hand.

Storyteller Saturday! — If your characters could be placed in any fictional world that you didn't create, which one would it be and why? How about making a few headcanons for your chosen characters that've been placed in this new world! (feel free to pick more than one world if you wish!)

okay so right off the top, I would love to see them in your story, When Wolves Cry! just, that world is so vast and interesting to me, and I've always had a weakness for shifters anyway, and just!

*Locke really really really loves his shift form and is probably in it as absolutely often as he can justify!

*opposite to him, Bolte’s always found his shift form to be clunky and awkward (or even embarrassing/weaker than what he needs) so he tends to be in it as little as possible.   is this largely because it makes scenes where he shifts to save someone that much more impactful? yeah, probably. i’m weak like that.

*I feel like Blue would be some sort of corvid ‘shift and he 10/10 collects shiny things in both forms. the ultimate gift is getting a shiny thing from him!

@bookish-actor‘s world Just Playing The Game would be really cool, too, because i’m so soft for westerns, and also I really, really love the idea of Locke and Nixie interacting with each other oops

*Lincoln finds Red when he’s hurt and wandering (after having been separated from Bolte) and probably take him to Nixie’s house to get him all tended too

*Locke is a Hero but probably not seen as a very good one. flashy heroics aren’t really his thing, and he’ll help out anyone, no matter their class, if they look like they need help

*idk how canon this would be to JPTG but there’s this line in GHD where Bolte, when he was younger, has a tagline labeling him as “future hero bolte” so?    very keen on his place in this being something in regards to him having almost been a hero but because he went and trailed after Red, a villain, instead it affected his class and he got labeled as a villain instead

Groundhog Day kids but it’s The Lord Of The Rings and Locke is this no name blacksmith from a human town (with Blue, his hobbit boyfriend) who ends up getting his hands on the One Ring and embarking on a journey to save the world, not because it’s his job, but because he can and no one else seems interested in doing such.
