Am I wrong for wanting to be loved, and worst for admitting it?
Savannah, GA is a funny place to call home. Many parts of it are really pretty, like absolutely picturesque. The flip side of that is the extremely high violent crime rate we have for being such a little city. My uncle called my grandmother today to tell her that just two or three blocks up the street from our house, a cop got shot in broad daylight, in the early afternoon, on a really busy street. Still don't know if he's dead yet. Got to wait for the local news to come on tonight to find out. I'm also curious to hear about that court case out of Brunswick of the guy who's "accused" of trying to rob a woman and after learning he wasn't going to get anything, decided to shot the woman in the foot while he shot her baby in the head, who then later sadly died from his injury.
Of course, this might just be an extraordinarily violent time in Georgia, in Savannah and possibly even the particular side of town I live in. I mean this is only a couple of months after the shootout that happened at the Coastal Fair grounds only a block or two away from my church, the armed robbery that also took place two or three blocks away from my grandmother's house in the middle of the day, or the gunman who held himself up in the Old Pink House almost a year ago now.
Savannah don't get bad press nearly as often as it needs to, but Savannah ain't nothin' to play with. I don't care how pretty certain parts of it is, you better know: who you with, what you're doing, and how you can get away.
