A revine has very precise control of its shapeshifting ability, able to grow new limbs to serve as weapons, squeeze through tiny cracks and crevices, or harden itself into an iron-like shell. They can also divide, which often proves a lethal surprise for enemies expecting a single target. They split in order to set up flanking positions, or to give chase to fleeing enemies while a defender stands its ground. A revine can remain split indefinitely, but its regeneration ceases to work shortly after the split occurs, and a revine must recombine in order to heal itself. Although revines make great use of their morphic weaponry, they often collect other weapons, particularly wands and ranged weapons in order to increase the distance they are capable of striking from.

Special Abilities
Condense (Su) As a standard action, a revine can condense its body to make it more solid. It loses the compression ability, can only make two morphic weapon attacks in melee and none at range, and suffers a -10 foot penalty to all its speeds. In exchange, it gains hardness 10, and its morphic weapons overcome damage reduction as if made of cold iron and silver. This ability lasts until it spends another standard action to loosen its body again.
Morphic Body (Su) As a standard action, a revine can assume the appearance of any Medium or Small creature (other than creatures with the elemental, incorporeal, or swarm subtype—the body assumed must be solid). This ability affects only the revine’s outward image. Its creature type doesn’t change in this new form; it gains none of the mimicked creature’s special abilities, and it retains all of its normal statistics and abilities as depicted above. This is a polymorph effect.
Morphic Weapons (Su) A revine can manipulate its body to mimic a wide array of potent weaponry wielded by its various forms. While the weapons may look different, they are considered natural weapons and they all do the same amount of damage. Morphic weapons deal bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage, and are treated as magic for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction. Once per round, a revine can extend one of its limbs to strike at a distance up to 15 feet away with one of its morphic weapons. A revine can also attack with a morphic weapon by hurling portions of its body as a thrown weapon with a range increment of 60 feet (the mezlan swiftly regrows thrown portions of its body after using this attack, while the hurled portion melts away into slime after dealing damage to a target).
Proficiency Pool (Ex) Five times a day, a revine can grant itself proficiency with a single weapon for one minute as a swift action. Alternately, it may use one use of this ability to act as if the spells of a single class were on its spell list for one minute, for the purpose of using spell trigger or spell completion items.
Split (Su) A revine mezlan can split in half as a move action. Each half appears in an adjacent square, and gains half of the revine’s current hit points. The revine can remain split indefinitely, but its regeneration stops one minute after the split occurs, and remains deactivated until the two halves are adjacent to each other and merge as a move action and remain in one piece for 1 minute. If one half of the revine is slain, the other’s regeneration resumes 24 hours later, and cannot use this ability for another 24 hours after that.
Versatile Speech (Ex) A revine has a talent for parsing spoken languages. After spending 1 minute listening to a speaker use a language it doesn’t already know, a revine can understand that language. After listening for 1 additional minute, the revine can speak the language. This understanding lasts for 24 hours before fading from the revine’s mutable mind. To understand the same language again after this time, the revine must spend another minute listening to a creature speak that language. The mezlan doesn’t have to be engaged in a conversation to use this ability.
