What happened between Hai Tang Books and a team of their translators that stirred up the danmei community? DanmeiNews provides an overview of what went down when the original translation teams on two series were replaced earlier this year.
"getting kissed once wasn’t a big deal. As bros, they had to show tolerance to one another."

[ID: Uncolored pencil sketch of Xiao Tianjing and Yearning For from Guide On How To Fail At Online Dating. Xiao Tianjing has fox ears and a tail, and Yearning for has demon horns. Both of them are dressed in fantasy Chinese-inspired clothing and have their hair tied back. They are standing close together and looking fondly at each other, Xiao Tianjing raising a hand to rest against Yearning For’s face while he places his hands on her hips.]

#2: Guide on How to Fail at Online Dating [Review]
When I say that I actually laughed out loud in every single chapter, I laughed out loud in every single chapter.
I couldn’t put this one down. I blew through this at the expense of my sleep, and boy. was it worth it. I kept on wanting to know what was going to happen next... 酱子贝, I applaud you.
To be honest, when I first started this, I didn’t really have any high expectations (which is good I suppose, ‘cause I was only impressed afterwards). It’s a relatively common trope with the main character acting as a catfish in order to seek revenge only for that to bite Laozi in the butt later on, but the way the story was written was chefs kiss--despite the slow burn, it was the best burn I’ve ever felt. Thus, the resulting romance felt so natural. The pacing was steady throughout the entire novel, to the point where sometimes it felt just a bit too slow that you just couldn’t wait to read the next chapter, and then the next, and then the next.
Not to mention, I was downright screaming in some chapters.
The characters didn’t feel forced, which made it all the more impressionable when they messed up or said something that could raise eyebrows. Even the characters who served as cannon fodder ended up holding a place in my heart.
All in all, it was a refreshing read that I would definitely reread in the future when looking for some college-boy humor and cute romance.
I’m kind of in the mood to download an MMORPG now...
my take on xiao tianjing.......ugh, i can’t put this novel down it is Such a hot mess
