Follower Submission, 2018. Path up to the top of Costilla Bridge.
The first picture shows the founding of Colorado Springs and the Denver and Rio Grande Rail at Pikes Peak Avenue, built by “The Conductor”, General William J Palmer. The following pictures show Pikes Avenue over the last (almost) 150 years. The spirit of General Palmer is still watching over his railroad.
It appears I was not alone at the Costilla Bridge. Thank you for helping me to see it.
I met some local experts. In preparation for the next seance to contact the Conductor, I am cleansing the candles and Talisman. Likewise, I will cleanse myself in preparation to cast the the most powerful Protection circle possible.
It took some time to align our schedules but my new friends take things seriously. We prepared for the seance carefully to make sure we got the answers we sought. The cleansed candles were consecrated with intent and the black candle with the “Algiz” rune for added protection. The protection spell was cast with the consecrated candles, a special crystal obelisk, and chakra stones. A lot of time was spent in reflection and spiritual meditation. We contacted the Conductor and learned the truth about all the railroad deaths these last 5 years.
It was a cloudy and rainy day but strangely peaceful. The spring rain made the grass green and everything was starting to bloom. After five years, I find “the Conductor” is the founder of our city and the Denver & Rio Grande Railway.
I realize I have walked by this grave many times in my visits looking for the Conductor - it is only 30 feet from the Mortuary, which is also widely documented to be haunted. Is the Conductor also the source of the haunting of the mortuary?
Although I now know the history of the ghost Conductor , I struggle to see why he would murder innocents on his own railway... Why is he angry at his own legacy? I guess I should stop calling him the “Conductor”. His proper title is General.
Thank You for Following. Being able to share, able to get this story out, and able to be part of a community has allowed me to move forward and deal with what has happened over these 5 years. Helping me to see what I could not over this last week is a revelation and I have to stop and think what to do next. Do I forget about the Conductor and let the city try to erase it for me or do I pursue this mystery to closure? Why have I been granted this vision and what does it mean? Should I seek the source of this haunting for its meaning or simply move on with life and put it behind me? I’m not even sure I know how to pursue a phantom...
I set out today for a look over the work at the Costilla Train Bridge but I was interrupted before I even arrived… The Conductor’s Alley is being renovated at the same time. In fact, they are almost finished with it. The fence is now down again and the tracks have been removed from the alley. Workmen are removing the tracks completely from the roadway and the intersection to the Abandoned Train Yard. The entire abandoned area is having its “rail” history removed. But I noticed something in the detail of the mural I had not seen before and it grabbed my attention and resonated in a way that made me freeze when I saw it: a graveyard scene.
