Beetlejuice 2 Can Finally Redeem Its Title Character

Beetlejuice 2 promises the return of Michael Keaton's "Ghost with the Most." However, the sequel could change how audiences originally saw him.

Boo! Not Every villain has to be reworked to be secretly good all along, they seemingly did that in the Hocus Pocus sequel and that weirded me out considering the first movie had them eating children’s life-force until they died prematurely of old age!

...Or at least underline what a creep he is, like they do in the musical (where they have an entire song about how deeply upsetting the marriage subplot from the original is).

Or take the musical’s approach by having him kinda bounce off of someone arguably worse. Like, WBD also have the rights to the Conjuring movies, have Beetlejuice kill the Warrens or something, it’d be hilarious.

The Kramer Twins aka the DMV Ghosts

Rosella and Jeremiah Kramer

1912-1918

As the placard in the Sutton Municipal Offices will tell you, a church once stood on that very spot 100 years ago. Jeremiah Kramer, a Sutton native, was a fire-and-brimstone preacher who looked down upon anyone who failed to meet his impossibly high standards. In 1912, his wife Margery gave birth to their first and only surviving children, twins Rosella and Jeremiah Jr. At the time, Sutton was plateauing from its population boom in the latter half of the 19th century, meaning multiple children called the town their home for the twins to befriend.

However, the children were two of the many tragic deaths that came from the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918. When the first few cases broke out, Jeremiah isolated his family in their home connected to the church, refusing to let them leave. He took on all outside duties, including buying groceries. However, his children still contracted the illness and passed away, leaving Jeremiah and Margery to live the rest of their long lives, later dying in the 1960s.

The twins' spirits remained active on the church grounds, dutifully attending services every Sunday. Individuals would report feeling a presence next to them when they came to pray alone, as well as seeing figures out of the corner of their eye and hearing children laughing at odd hours.

The church was torn down in the 1940s due to structural instability, and the grounds were built up into Sutton's new city hall, which later became the all-purpose Municipal Offices, including the Sutton DMV, which is where the spirits are most active. 

People have reported hearing laughter and feeling a mischievous presence occasionally, but the most noteworthy encounters are all similar. Someone either lies, cuts in line, or otherwise behaves poorly and ends up being scratched or feeling an impending sense of doom that follows them until they leave the building. It is suspected this comes from the Kramer twins, who loved and obeyed their father to the end.

Snippet Tagging Game

I was tagged to share a snippet from a current WIP! While it's not something I've posted yet, here is a little something from a fic I'm excited to start in honor of spooky season!

Summary: Yugi liked to think he kept an open mind, but when a ghost recruited his help to assist his handsome boyfriend to move on after his death... He really considered the possibility that he's going insane.

"What am I even supposed to say to him?" Yugi asked helplessly, his nerves simmering dangerously in the pit of his stomach. He was really starting to rethink every decision he'd ever made in his short life.

Yami moved forward, his ghostly form floating into his peripheral. Yugi did his best to keep his eyes forward, not needing to draw any attention from those passing him on the sidewalk. Even if he thought he was going insane, he didn't need others thinking so as well.

"'Hello' is generally a good starting point," he got in return, an amused lilt filtering into the others' voice. "Do not fret. I promise he won't bite," the spirit assured him. "Well," he reconsidered only a beat later. "Probably not in this setting anyway."

Halloween Concept

The Ghosts and Ghoulies and Demons that haunt spaces are JUST as annoyed with the electrical interference they cause as you are. Imagine:

Ghost 1, to others, post-scaring someone away: Did you SEE their faces?!? That door slam was PERFECT, Frank!!

Ghost 2: You’re still the best at this, Frank. 

Frank the Ghost: Aw, shucks, fellas, it was nothing. Ooh! Grab their camera they dropped and we can replay the highlights!

*Watches back the footage, only for the scary part to be covered up by screen glitches, static, and high-pitched electronic noises*

Frank the Ghost: We’ve GOT to figure out a way not to do that...

Aspiring musician, Beca, moves into a new apartment at a great rate. Turns out there is a reason it’s so cheap. Notes:

Hey, dudes. Y’all know the drill by now. Just exploring an idea, not exactly sure where this is going. Bechloe is probably not endgame but who knows?

🎶 You shout it out, but I can’t hear a word you say 🎶

Beca was a musician on her way to making her dreams come true.

🎶 I’m talking loud, not saying much 🎶

She found a job in the big city. Sure, right now, she was just fetching coffee, but she had her foot in the door at an up-and-coming record company.

🎶 I’m criticized, but all your bullets ricochet 🎶

She found a gorgeous apartment at way below market value.

🎶 You shoot me down, but I get up 🎶

The bathroom is newly renovated, with this retro-looking claw foot tub and hanging shower head. The acoustical qualities were amazing.

🎶 I’m bulletproof, nothing to lose, fire away, fire away 🎶

There was just one tiny problem…

🎶 Ricochet, take your aim 🎶

Beca screamed when her bath curtain flew open. Awesome, the room was cheap because Norman Bates is going to chop me up! But, there was no knife wielding psycho. In fact, there was nobody and nothing at all. She must have opened the curtains herself. Losing it much? As she caught her breath, she closed the curtains and turned around.

“You can sing!”

“Dude!” Beca scrambles to cover herself. “Who…What…How in the hell did you get in here?”

The intruder, a red-haired woman with bright blue eyes, smiled brightly and winked. “I live here silly!”

“Nope, didn’t sign up for this!” The contract didn’t say anything about sharing an apartment…probably, she really should have read the fine print, but it was such s great deal. Well, no wonder, Beca sighed.

“Actually, ‘live’ might not be technically accurate. I used to live here. I don’t actually ‘live’ anywhere anymore.”

Why does she keep emphasizing…oh. Beca finally noticed that the redhead’s skin wasn’t just pale, it was translucent. She caught herself staring at some parts more than others and blushed.

“Yeah, I’m pretty confident about all of this. Or you know, I was.”

“You’re a…”

“Ghost? Yup, my name is Chloe and it’s great to meet you!”

That’s the last thing remembered before she passed out.
