Trick or Treat!

"I'm dead," Tim said out loud. The certainty of it chilled him to the bone.

"You're not dead," the child opposite him rolled his eyes, as insouciant as ever. "Don't be dramatic."

"You're dead," Tim pointed out, voice wavering. He couldn't stop flicking his gaze over the blood splatters, the way the bones shifted underneath bruised, multicolored skin. The rasp of lungs seared to the bone.

"Yes, stupid," Robin sneered at him. "And unless you'd like to join me, you need to get out of this building before it comes tumbling down on your idiot head."

Bound Jay

Jay died when he was 11, and was stuck on the surface, but he was no longer bound to the Isle, he had slight freedom before he felt himself being bound to someone. He let it lead him to wherever when he was dragging to Agrabah, then into the palace where he met a 12 year old Aziz, who was the only one to see him. Aziz was relatively calm about it(Genie is his uncle simple) but somewhat freaked out by the blood and injuries on Jay. And okay I have a friend who is a ghost and Jafar's soon. Cool. Aziz didn't tell his parents about Jay and Jay would just follow Aziz around. Not like he had a choice. But he decided he was bound to Aziz to haunt him so Aziz's sleep schedule was fucked up for the next year or so cause ghosts don't need sleep and Jay is a mischievous child. They keep going and getting along and playing together. When 1 day, when Aziz is 16, and Jays 15 but still looks 11, during dinner Genie did something wrong with his magic and let's say Aladdin Jasmine and Genie, were surprised to see a translucent 11 year old covered in blood and injuries floating by Aziz. Jay freaked out when he realized they could see him, and teleported away(well as far away as he could since he's bound to Aziz) leaving Aziz to explain that he had Jafars son as a friend for 4 years that only he could see him. (Jay never actually told Aziz he was bound and couldn't leave, Aziz assumed he just stayed around cause he liked it) Jay hid from them for the next few days. After Aziz explained the whole ghost and met when he was 12. Genie couldn't even track Jay since he wasn't alive. It was the simple conclusion that Jay was scared of them. A question that Genie had for Aziz though was Jays mental state. If Jay is 15 but physically 11, is his mind still a child. Aziz wasn't sure. Jay was always a tad childish to him, so maybe. Eventually the bounds dragged Jay back to Aziz. He knew he was still visible to people and he didn't like it. But Jay is Jay, and decided the best way to greet Aziz was with a prank, so Jay happened to get his translucent hands on glitter. Aziz after cleaning up a bit. Asked Jay where he was. When Jay said he was just in the palace Aziz asked why he ran, well teleported away, and Jay glared and refused to answer. So Aziz asked if Jay was scared of his parents. Jay scowled at him and again refused to answer.

Here’s my AUs, all Jay-centric for Reasons™.

*Ghost Jay AU, the aftermath of @elementalmasteroffandom ‘s Villain Jay theory. Go check that out, it’s pretty cool. Essentially, Jay has literally no idea what happened on the island (unless it’s after the Mistakes drabbles), and has no clue why he’s a ghost.

*Pirate Jay AU. Jay grew up in the Cursed Realm for Reasons™, joined Nadakhan’s crew immediately after getting out. Gets caught by the ninja, etc etc, bruise happens, you get the idea. His two moods are Literal Child and Actually Somewhat-Competent Adult. No in-between. 

*Possession AU. Jay is possessed instead of Lloyd in s5 (although Lloyd still gets taken later :D). Morro is actually kind of smart about it and hides it at first. Even after Lloyd is taken, Jay is kept, for... insurance reasons. 

Nadakhan-Comes-Back-Right-After-Prime-Empire-For-Reasons™ AU. Exactly what it sounds like. Jay is traumatized, impulsive, and clearly has not had enough sleep.

*Mystery AU. One I’m not going to talk about, mostly for suspense despite the fact I won’t write it for another year or when I finally get to it, and also because I’m still figuring some bits of it out and it’s very hard to explain. Don’t ask questions unless you want a vague Tommy-Anderson like answer. Which I will be happy to give. Please ask questions.

WHO’S READY FOR AU SHENANIGANS

“We got the scroll! Woohoo!”

Jay grinned at his teammates, only to pull to a confused stop. “What’s up? We didn’t drop it or anything, did we?”

Cole stepped forward. “Jay, um, don’t freak out,”

Jay laughed. “What? Did a spider hitch a ride out of that creepy temple?” He lifted his arm, twisting and turning around in an effort to inspect his gi. “Man I hope it’s not…big…” He lifted his hand up shakily. “Cole?”

Cole was by him in a second, steady hands on his shoulders and a low voice rumbling in his ears. “It’s okay, Jay, you’re okay.”

Jay could only stare wide-eyed at his hand – his green hand, green, and see-through, and the rest of him matched because he was – as Cole tried wrapping big arms around him. Except he couldn’t get a grip, couldn’t even touch him, no, because he was worked up and scared and now he was intangible and oh no what if he went invisible what if he never went back to being visible how would they even know he was there or hurt or even alive hell was he even alive now –

“Breathe, Jay.”

An even warmer hand reached warily to rest on Jay’s back. The heat grounded him, leeched into his form, and though he didn’t have need, he gasped in a breath of air.

A metallic voice rang in his ears, and though Cole jolted and Kai winced, it soothed Jay’s runaway mind. “It is alright, Jay. You are alright.”

Jay coughed and shuddered into Cole’s shoulder.

He could feel himself start to solidify, could feel the welcome pressure of ground beneath his feet and arms around his shoulders. He chanced a look up at his team.

“What do – I mean – how do I – “

They all smile.

“We,” Cole emphasized, “Are going to figure this out.”
