Ash Lore pt. 1

(English is not my first lenguage!)

So, this is Ash, he's my ghoul OC (credits to the creator of the picrew ofc)

I have drawings of him but they're just sketches so for now here's a picrew of him, and here's some lore bc why not

Lore

He's a water ghoul (I know Ash has nothing to do with water but I'm just used to calling him that) but he's not in the band, he doesn't play any instrument in shows, though he likes to play the violin, he's a "clergy ghoul" which means he does random tasks inside the ministry, from finances, which he hates, to showing the new sisters of sin the place.

He was summoned during the infesstisumam era as part of the clergy's attempts to summon less feral ghouls and for more mundane tasks, Ash was summoned with Phil (I think he's been around since opus but idk, let's say he was summoned in era two) which caused some troubles in the ritual and bc of that insident the clergy learned that only ghouls from the same element can be summoned together, because basicly the quintessence that Phil was radiating (yes, for me Phil is a quintessence ghoul, idk why, it just feels right) affected Ash and they both had some "imperfections", this doesn't mean that they're brothers but they're great pals.

For a time Ash was Secondo's personal ghoul, a thing that every Papa can have but it's more a decition than an obligation to have a personal ghoul. At first Secondo choose to not have one bc why would he have to be around a ghoul outside of shows? But bc he's lazy asf took Ash as his personal ghoul but more for tasks as buying him things when he's lazy or bringing him more alcohol so they're not that close but Ash respects him.

The image where Ash has messier hair and bigger bear/mustache is from when he was just summoned because conditions in the pit aren't the best and most of the ghoul (at least in those times) where feral asf. The first thing they did was shave his beard and making him take a bath to then brush his hair and the image where Ash doesn't have hair in his forehead is how he used to look like for his first two years in the clergy. So in my last post about No Rhyme or Reason I was like "haha they definitely SHOULDN'T try to purpose organisms".

And then I started thinking about what a slugpup would look like if you let a downright mad iterator mess with one.

Introducing: The Fucklet (at least the current little design, might mess them up more later on lol). For an idea of their size, they're still a sluppy so they're tiny, but very long. Think like a ferret, but Messed Up.

The name I shouldn't stick with because it's terrible but it's also absolutely hilarious, thank you to @sapphicdib for inspiring what the character selection descriptions for this beast could be.

I've had a strange late night inspiration to make a new iterator oc, inspired by me watching old, slightly unhinged yet nostalgic movies to try to break my writer's block (and also @ssagesaurus 's brilliant idea of making one based on a Cosmo Sheldrake album), and I maaay have come up with something cursed as a result

An iterator that's an example of how prone they could be to losing themselves after the loss off purpose and sudden isolation following the Mass Ascension, and using that fanciful language they were raised around to become a riddling enigma.

A silly little guy inspired by some peculiar characters played in a funny hat (e.g. Willy Wonka in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland.)

Plus, The Much Much How How and I album kind of has a similar vibe as those characters; lyrics that seem disconnected and nonsensical yet fun, music that can sometimes sound a little unnerving yet still inviting (e.g. Come Along). I'm very sleep deprived and mashing shit together rn

Thinking of the name "No Rhyme or Reason"?

...Also tempted to give them a hat; it would certainly be difficult to make it fit in the setting, but could be a fun lil design choice!

How does ECF eat, did he give himself a mouth to enjoy tastes?, something like spearmaster's needles?, or something else?

Oooh, this is a fun ask! Ironically that actually WAS Fates' original concept! He was going to have encountered Spearmaster and took inspiration from it's needles, creating his own so he could have a weird little digestive system situation going.

I didn't end up sticking with that because it just felt like an iterator in Spearmaster cosplay, so... Well, now he's just a furry lmao

Instead of using food to keep him fueled, he keeps his neurons with him in order to keep him powered! I imagine it's sort of a Bluetooth system, like how Moon has her neurons just floating above her head.

But when you live in the wild, you need to protect those babies better. Soooo

His big ol tail? Totally hollow. Useful for balance and such, but also for storage of BUGS.

Technically he would be fine if he had them flying around, but we know how tempting they are for scugs, just imagine every little creature out there chewing on this guy's braincells.

However, the idea of him with a mouth,,, Is very cute I can't deny. After seeing @csavii 's iterators with mouths idea, I decided to mess around while I was doodling

He would probably like blue fruit. Man is NOT squeamish like ya girl Moon he loves them bugs. (If he didn't know any better he would try to eat his own neurons. He's so stupid <3)

But yeah, I feel like if Fates had had more support and encouragement for his project, he would have incorporated a mouth and a whole digestive system to really fit in with the world! He can smell through the vents I always forget to draw on the sides of their jaws, but cannot taste—I'm sure he definitely wants to though. Mans is hungry with no stomach

Ever Changing Fates, Interlaced Mosaics

IM: You’ve been quiet lately, my friend.

IM: Are you alright?

ECF: Yeah, I'm alright

IM: You're not very convincing.

ECF: It's nothing to worry about, Mos

ECF: How has your work been going?

IM: No, no. Not changing the subject. What's wrong?

ECF: Mos...

IM: Spill it.

ECF: ...

ECF: I'm tired of this

IM: Our conversations?

ECF: No! No no no, absolutely not — that’s the one thing keeping me sane right now!

IM: They are?

ECF: Yes! It's…

ECF: I'm sorry. I'm overwhelmed, I must confess.

IM: Overwhelmed?

ECF: With this. With all of this. Cycle by cycle we sit in our cans and do nothing, staring at the same four walls, the ceiling and the floor, of our chambers. How is any being, godlike or not, supposed to maintain even a crumb of sanity in these conditions?

IM: That is why we continue to iterate for the solution. If we don't, then we sit there. It keeps us sane.

ECF: It's just prolonging the inevitable descent into madness. I feel like it's already happening

IM: You've done nothing for cycles, since you declared you no longer cared for The Great Problem. You just need to focus on something; we are iterators, designed to think. Doing nothing is a wish for madness.

ECF: I'm sick of The Great Problem, Interlaced Mosaics. I cannot think about it for another minute

IM: I know. So start a project, something, anything. I can't let my closest friend drive himself to insanity out of stubbornness.

ECF: I'm not stubborn!

IM: Oh, hush, you. You're more stubborn than an Ancient claiming modesty while incapable of fitting through a doorway thanks to their mask.

ECF: Hey!

IM: Plus you never listen, and—

ECF: Alright, alright, I'll listen! I'll start a project. Happy?

IM: Heheh, good.

ECF: You would have just kept going if I didn't cut you off, wouldn't you?

IM: Maybe ~

IM: Can you blame me?

ECF: Ughhhh

ECF: … Thank you, Mos

IM: Of course, Fates. Now go do something, you lazy bag of bolts.

ECF: Gasp! How rude!!
