Yokai Inktober #11: Gagoze
His namesake is derived from his haunting ground, the Gango-ji temple in Nara. He is a Reiki, a vengeful ghost of a slain Oni. That’s right, if you fell an Oni it gets MEANER and STRONGER! The only catch is it’s bound to it’s haunting ground unless it eats and kills enough people. Ok, I may have added that previous statement. He’s featured in a tale within the Nihon Ryoiki(A Record of Strange Ghostly happenings in Japan,) but that’s another story.
