Ghosted (Fictif) - Thoughts and Possibly review?

I’ve been replaying Ghosted due to the unlimited hourglass weekend and I am reminded of the many MANY thoughts I’ve had about this game.

Limited romantic interest:

First off, Jesse is amazing. I love him. He’s great. BUT the story would have just been so much better if the stakes were actually real and had an impact on the story!

SPOILERS: The story ends with Jesse coming back to life and MC and him living together regardless of the choices made. However if the story had multiple love interests (such as Courting the Crown - even though I’ve had issues with the story) Ghosted would have just been much more captivating. ESPECIALLY seeing as it’s written into the story that it’s limited to 7 days.

Think about it. Xavier is the absolute perfect secondary love interest. Best friend pining for years after MC?? I could die for it. As we all know Audrey is still clearly hopelessly in love with Jesse (and also basically caused his death 🙄) so it could easily be reasoned with that it causes a rift between Xavier and Audrey. Double pining and who doesn’t love some good old angst.

A female love interest could easily be written in almost the exact same way as Xavier; pining for years after MC; or even better not even acknowledging or understanding those feelings and having to face them for the first time after years of no contact with MC. Bonus points if MC is in danger.

I even tried making a chart lmao:

Xavier (LI) - MC - Audrey (enemy)

Audrey (LI) - MC - Sandra & Xavier (murderers)

Jesse (LI) - MC - Audrey & Xavier (murderers)

2. Stakes and Length of book:

I find that the stakes just don’t feel as high as they did in The Arcana (which is how I started Fictif). I REALLY don’t like comparing different stories but I just wish they made us suffer a bit more LOL.

The length of the book could have still been kept or extended by a few more chapters (maybe 7 to round up to a week).

Xavier even confesses to MC! That was literally the perfect opportunity to write in additional love interests but it didn’t happen and I was just really disappointed.

All I want to do is have Xavier be MC romantic interest and let them both be happy 😔. Audrey is so mean and he’s so kind. I know we don’t see the full extent of the relationship but from Jesse’s experience (Jesse and Audrey breaking up due to her negativity) their relationship seems to be going the same way.

A perfect story would have possibly gone the way of Last Legacy. In the way that there’s an introduction THEN we begin our chosen Love Interest routes. However I do understand this was a short story so even a story where all LI were involved in the one book would have been great

It seems all the female characters in this story was in love with Jesse which essentially causes his death. However! If it were limited to 2 pining characters (MC + additional) we could have an actual friendship support structure. Jesse isn’t an idiot I’m sure he can realize these women are in love with him. Especially seeing as he’s stylized as a “womanizer” I find it a bit unrealistic that he doesn’t see that. In the case of MC being his LI it makes sense due to the face that love is blind 😬😂.

I do get that this is purposefully done this way to create the actual story of how Jesse dies BUT please refer to all points about explains why I think this story would have been better with multiple love interests lmao.

4. Resolution:

All the above points creates for a complicated ending.

If MC and Jesse do not end up romantically involved Jessie could fall in love with Audrey (again) or even Sandra with the right storytelling.

This does not mean Jesse is always resurrected. His fortune reading says “For seven days you’ll have your chance; a lease on life, perhaps romance. But death it seems, you cannot fight unless you solve by seventh night”

Option A: MC could recruit Xavier and Audreys help OR

Option B: could recruit Sandras help OR

Option C: choose not to ask any friends for help.

This could be the divergence in the story.

Option A would result in MC and Xavier ending up and Jesse and Audrey falling back in love seeing their friends support and “good side”. In my head it’s honestly fully fleshed out and would take up way too many characters to explain but I’m sure you get the gist. (you’ll have your chance; a lease on life, perhaps romance)

Option B would result in MC falling in love with Audrey and realizing Sandra as well as Xavier maybe (even though I love him 😔) is the murderer. Jesse would however end up dead 💀 (But death it seems, you cannot fight)

Option C is the current story where MC and Jesse end up together as they already suspect one of their friends to be Jesse’s murderer.

So. These are my thoughts on Ghosted. Honestly I couldn’t have written this many words without loving the story and the writers. I just wanted to put my thoughts out there in the community and get involved with everyone who loves the story 💕

I finished playing ghosted and I chose the right person as the killer, but now I want to replay it and choose the wrong person just to see what happens. Which is an extremely stupid idea considering how I reacted to Poe, but oh well. That's a problem future me will have to deal with
