17. “I’m telling you. I’m haunted.” Please and thank you! c:
This plays similarly to a ghost AU I wanna do soon(ish) but here ya go!!

“I’m telling you, Alex, I’m haunted!”
Kara can practically hear Alex rolling her eyes skyward. “You are not haunted, you fucking goober, you’re just forgetful.”
“I am not! That house is haunted, I swear!”
“Sure it is. Kara, this is classic buyer’s remorse. Granted, usually it takes a little less time, but-”
“Alex, when have you ever known me to leave the cupboards open, it’s like, my third biggest pet peeve. And it creaks, like all the time. And and and every time I turn on music to work on the house, the wifi goes out. How am I supposed to remodel if I can’t jam out?”
“You’re such a dork. And if you are haunted, at least your ghost has better taste in music than you do.”
“Hey!”
“Look, kiddo, just stick it out. The house is like 200 years old, it’s bound to creak and groan. And as for the cupboards, if they’re even a quarter as old as the rest of the place, they’re probably just hung wrong. Quit worrying, you’ll be fine.”
“But-”
“Nope, no buts. You bought the place to ‘restore it to its former glory, right?”
“Well I mean, yeah...”
“Then you gotta deal with the un-fun parts of that too.”
“Even if there are ghosts?” Kara asks in a small voice.
“Even if there are ghosts. Which there aren’t, because there’s no such thing as ghosts. Okay?”
“Yeah, okay. Thanks Al.”
“Sure thing, kiddo. Love you, even though you're ridiculous.”
“I resemble that remark,” Kara grumbles. “Talk to you later.”
She hangs up and sighs, looking forlornly around that the half-demolished kitchen. “Hey, ghost, who may or may not exist.... um, if you could like, not mess with my stuff? That’d be super awesome.”
A nearby photo falls off the wall- a wall that’s mostly been taken down to the studs.
“Okay, okay, point taken, but look, I’m not like, wrecking the house for no reason, alright? I’m trying to restore it, so it doesn’t keep getting worse. I promise, it’s gonna be beautiful by the time I’m done with it.”
She doesn’t honestly expect an answer back, but nothing else gets knocked over, so Kara decides to take the win.
