this has got to be some kind of joke.

follow the leads, steve said. look for clues, steve said. this is a start, steve said. half of him wanted to reach out and slap the other for sending him here but he knows how much it means to him. knows that find this guy is a prime focus but….is he really just sipping mai tais in the bermuda triangle?

sometimes he wonders if cap just doesn’t know, is fucking with him or has some strange amount of optimism but he’s here. he’s surrounded by tourist and he’s wearing sandals for captain america. 

scouting the area isn’t hard especially when you’re 99.99% certain the person you’re looking for is not there. two days in and he’s found nothing. not even a damn hair but it’s cool. he’s getting a vacation out of it. making the most of yet another dead end. but it feels good.

he’s got a job to do. a mission. though a part of him has no interest in finding the winter soldier, bucky, sergeant barnes…whatever. but steve needs and deserves answers and hell, he’s kinda curious himself. he’s seen some weird shit but two best friends from the 1940s both end up turned into super soldiers running around the 21st century is definitely top ten weird for him. that’s not even a plot line. it’s just weird. he half expects an army of them to just pop up now. at this rate anyway.

his last day there has him planning next steps. this was a bust and he knows steve will be disappointed but at least they’ve crossed it off. at least they know to move on. he’s checking any connections they have for a tip. maybe a sighting. it’s a little funny to him. sam wilson, P.I. to captain america. hunting down supposedly dead people. 

but it’s important.

it matters.

for all the crap he gives steve for chasing the other down. he kinda gets it. he’d probably do the same in that position. that’s a person he cares for and that person…is lost. hurt. that person is a victim to something horrible and when you know you can at least try to help and you don’t? what does that say about you? so he’ll keep chasing cold leads. he’ll keep flying all over the damn planet. and he’ll put his best effort into it. not just for steve but, and it feels strange to think, for bucky too. every soldier deserves to come home and he’s been a prisoner for too long.

he just hopes he doesn’t get shot in the process.

           @demonslayvr and i have only recently become mutuals but from what i’ve seen and read their blog is stellar! the mun seems super nice and they have a lovely…aesthetic? i guess is what i mean. lkkgfdgklfdg i don’t really know too much about dmc but they make me more interested to know and dante seems really interesting and cool uwu. also it’s just awesome seeing more video game based characters! highly recommend them!
