Women in Mahabharata - Ghritachi
She is one of the most consistently noted apsaras.
In Mahabharata, the rishi Bharadvaja [most probably a descendant of the original] sees Ghritachi from a distance and becomes impatient. Much magical drama later, Drona is born from an 'earthen pot', as Bharadvaja's son.
Personally, I do not think that in this particular case, Ghritachi is Drona's mother. In fact the use of the word 'drona'-the-utensil tips us off to the fact that she most probably wasn't involved in this part, since if she was, Vyasa would say that.
In India [I can speak for Bengal at least], women from as recently as the colonial era were often noted as 'utensils to temporarily house children before they were delivered unto their father'.
Due to this fact, I feel like Drona's mother was some other lady [codified here as the 'kumbha'/'drona'], with whom Bharadvaja probably had a relationship, but whose identity he absolutely didn't want made public [not even in the 'apsara' category].
Some sources do note Ghritachi as the mother of Gadhi, and therefore the grandmother of Vishvamitra and the great-grandmother of Parashurama.
She is also acknowledged as the mother of Ruru, Pramadvara's husband and asspciated with Vyasa in context of Shuka's birth.
