— diluc
the tension that danced along your fingertips every time both of you even came close to brushing against each other’s hands never ceased to make your face feel warm each time it happened. there was just something about the closeness between you two that was enough to let the side of your palms stumble against the others' and the way your fingers inched ever so closely. you didn’t know if it was ever on purpose, or if he even noticed the implications that he was doing something that crossed the boundaries of anything platonic.
still, you’d never felt more anxious and invigorated in your entire life than when you danced across that line of being friends and lovers.
like now, as you shared a blanket on a movie night, it was no different. your arms were pressed against each other by the time the credits started rolling, but none of you paid enough attention to even switch to another one or do something else than sit there with your best friend. because right underneath the cottony fabric, your pinkies linked for the first time. oh god, you thought as your heart rate sped up by the minute. in the dim lighting, you could only roughly make out the red tinting diluc's ears, and you could do nothing but accept the shift in your relationship.
it only got more intense as you managed to lock eyes with him, and you swore his crimson irises made roses of the same shade bloom in your lungs. then you glanced at his lips, just a quick look. and it hit you square in the face:
yeah, best friends didn't hold hands and think about kissing one another.
— xiao
your friends always wondered why you never dated xiao, your roommate and longtime friend; and time and time again, you've explained to them that he was your best friend before redirecting the conversation to someone else's love life. that was most definitely just a coverup for the fact that you've been crushing on him for the longest time.
your feelings for him only amplified when he showed up while you were on an outing with the aforementioned friends. he'd appeared on his motorbike, leather jacket and all, as he parked upfront of the cafe you decided to go to. your friends spotted him first, nudging you the minute he took his helmet off to reveal his handsome face. you’d stumbled out the door to greet him.
“what are you doing here?” you asked, flustered at his sudden arrival. as always, his countenance was blank and perhaps mildly passive-aggressive to any bystander; however, you could tell that there was no aggression behind his eyes. your gaze drifted from his face to his hand which held a paper bag.
"the forecast said it might rain. you said you'd be here with your friends, and i came to drop this off just in case." he handed it to you gently. as you looked inside, you could spot an umbrella and one of his jackets. instantly, you felt a flutter in your gut. your heart palpitated the moment after; whether it was from the fact that he cared or he was willing to lend you his clothes, you didn't know.
nonetheless, you thanked him for his kindness. "thank you so much, xiao. you didn't have to do this, you know?" the male shook his head from side to side, dismissing you.
"no need to thank me. it'd be unfortunate if you ever got sick." as monotone as it might have sounded, you knew that xiao meant what he said. there's a lilt in his voice, one only you seem to have noticed, that betrayed all the softness he truly had in his body.
before your interaction came to an end and you both said your intentions to see each other later, you had tapped his shoulder just as he readied to put his helmet back on. you're not quite sure was possessed you at the moment, but you planted a kiss on his cheek before dashing back into the cafe where your friends would surely interrogate you and leaving xiao to watch your form withdrawing.
as he gently pressed his fingers towards the patch of skin your lips had grazed and his stomach swirled with something completely foreign to him, there was one thing on his mind.
best friends don't give each other butterflies.
— thoma
there was an icky green feeling that was instilled in you whenever people ogled at your best friend. it was no secret that the blond was attractive. with such a sweet personality and a house-husband aura, it shouldn't have been surprised when he started being chatted up on one of your grocery outings (thoma's idea after he figured you weren't going out as much as you should. you guys did it every week since then).
still, you could do nothing but hold your tongue. you were just his best friend after all, and there was no way he would be interested in you. you didn't even know his type, the more you thought about it. you shook your head, brushing off your feelings in favor of getting back to your task at hand.
you could only huff as you eyed the cereal box on the top shelf. normally, thoma would be the one to grab it for you, but he was clearly busy with other endeavors which left you to do it yourself. you looked around, wondering if there were any staff that could help you reach it. luck was definitely not on your side as you found the whole aisle empty with the exception of you. with a heavy heart, you decided to hop around until you could reach it. amidst your (failing) efforts, a kind stranger had reached up and handed you the box. you thanked them, flustered and scratching at your neck at how embarrassing it might have been to picture yourself jumping around the grocery to reach a simple cereal box.
this would not go unnoticed by thoma, not when he finally rounded the corner to see you acting shy. a strange sight and perhaps an unwelcomed one by the way he found his eyebrows furrowed and gaze hard on the floor the moment the two of you made it back to your apartment.
"who was that?" he inquired as you fixed up your pantry with thoma passing you each product. you hummed in response, curious at who he could've been referring to. "the one that you were with when you got the cereal."
just as you slid your favorite biscuits into the cabinet, you raised a brow before turning towards thoma who leaned against the island counter. you couldn't help but catch his aggravated expression. "dunno. they just helped me get the box. why?"
"you know you could've just called me over."
"you were busy talking. i didn't want to disturb you. did it bother you?"
it did. it really did if thoma was honest. there was something about the way that you didn't ask him to help when you knew he'd always put you first that just rubbed him the wrong way. even more so when you relied on a stranger that was too close for comfort, to thoma at least. he looked at the same cereal box from earlier that glared at him from just across the kitchen island; he shrugged. "you guys just looked kind of close there is all."
you tilted your head, "were you jealous?"
ok, best friends don't get jealous.
— zhongli
you didn't think the alcohol would be so strong. then again, what did you expect when it came from childe of all people? maybe it was your fault for trusting the ginger when he said that it was just mild and the fact that you didn't take into account that mild in snezhnaya meant "definitely-going-to-make-you-wasted-five shots-later" in liyue.
so there you were with your longtime friend, zhongli, absolutely drunk out of your mind in your apartment. maybe a bottle later and a drunken confession later, and you found yourself in your best friend's lap with your hands around his neck, his breath hot on your skin. you didn't exactly know what lead you two to that moment, but breaking whatever tension you had between you two when you were sober had been way overdue.
a blush had spread on his cheeks, whether it was from your compromising position or the alcohol— you couldn't really tell. his hands clenched by his sides, fingers digging into the skin of his palm as he balled them into fists. your hands, however, had long found their way to the sides of his neck until they had situated their place to caress his jaw.
"zhongli," his name came out as breathy from your mouth, "kiss me."
ever the gentleman he was (even while under the influence of a great amount of alcohol), he declined. "you're not sober."
you whined, and zhongli had never felt his body heat up so much. his adam's apple bobbed as you pressed yourself even more against him; by this time, zhongli had managed to snake his hands up to your wrist to keep you from getting any closer and effectively keeping you roughly an inch or two away from his lips. your struggling came right afterward, your body trying to wiggle against his grip.
"if i let you, you'll hate me tomorrow."
a huff passed your lips, brows still furrowed and a pout on your lips. your body momentarily halts as your eyes trailed from his mouth up to his eyes. his eyes of gold that looked at you pleadingly, almost paralleling your own desires for your companion. your front teeth nibbled on your bottom lip.
"no, i won't, and you know it too, zhongli. how long are we going to keep doing this until we finally cave?" you really did have a point, but perhaps that was just the liquid courage that finally made zhongli relent to the fact that there was indeed something between the two of you. something he'd turned a blind eye to because out of everyone in his life, you're the one person he'd never want to lose. he never wanted to risk your presence over something as foolish as his feelings for you.
so he stared back at you silently, heart threatening to give out when you eventually started to tear up from his lack of response. at that moment, panic overtook him for the first time in a long time; zhongli has never made you cry before— not even accidentally or indirectly. he's seen you cry, but he's never seen you cry because of him.
before he knew it, his body moved on his own purely out of instinct to what he thought could console you. the next thing he knew, his lips were on yours with all the grace of two drunk idiots in love, and your hands had found purchase on his shoulders once his hands migrated to your hips. just like that, something finally clicked in his brain after years of choosing to ignore it: you definitely weren't just friends.
Summary: You were just taking a walk at night to enjoy some fresh air until you accidentally bump into someone or should i say some young god.
"My, I apologize little dragon." you said while takes out your hand to pat his head but your hand was slapped by the smaller hand "How dare you touch me and how do you know that I'm a dragon?! " he ask in menacing but alert tone, hearing that made you chuckle by his action and you pulled your hand away from his head.
"Dear, it's not nice for you youngster to treat your elders like that. Well if your asking why did i know that you were a dragon it's simple i know everything about this world." you said while closing your eyes and gently caressing the hand that he has slapped by his small hand.
" Why should i respect you? And there's no one's older than me. " he said once again, but dear hearing that surprised you very much he was so young yet quite rude for the child his age, you opened your mouth to speak "Child, if you keep continue to act like that no one wants to worship a rude god like you." hearing that made him a little startles "Then tell me how do you know everything about this world?".
"It's simple and easy really you just have to understand teyvat and teyvat it's self will tell you everything." You once again takes out your hand but this time not to pat his head but to boop his nose and you definitely noticed how and that he's flustered by your sudden actions "Then, how do you understand teyvat?".
"That dear, that's not something I could say to you because you you're self have to try to understand the teyvat itself." you silently chuckle at the child about how innocent and curious he is, you're looking up to see the sky who's slowly turn into night "By the way child, it's getting dark, how about your getting back to your home now?" seeing him a looking down with a sad gaze breaks your heart at the sight "i-ican't go back. " he played with his hands while saying so.
You kneeled to his level and holding both of his hands "Child, are you perhaps lost?" seeing him noding his head gave you an idea "Child, how about reside at my place and i teach you the right way to become a god." you reach you hand to touch his face and caressing it gently seeing how the young dragon react you were sure that this dragon has lived by himself all this time.
✉ You didn't wait anymore seconds and leading him to your residence. As time passed by the young dragon has grown comfortable living with you and turns out he was just a shy little dragon that only needs a little attention and you decided to name him Morax.
their reactions when you dote on azhdaha and dvalin ft. cult!venti and zhongli
warnings: yandere content, yandere cult stuff
venti is entranced while watching you interact with the creatures. you look so powerful but sweet as you dote on the ancient protectors of liyue and mondstadt. as he looks at you, he's reminded just how lucky he is to be breathing, to have been made for you. everything that you are is to be loved by him, including the sight of your hands gently patting away at dvalin's wings. it brings him joy to see you react so positively to one of his dearest friends. though, he would be lying if he didn't want a headpat too. say... why doesn't he skip on over and hang out too? surely you wouldn't mind giving him attention; he's your good boy too, y'know?
zhongli does feel the tiniest twinge of jealousy in his chest as you call azhdaha and dvalin "the cutest dragons." to combat this, he'll take to telling you of the fact that he had been the one to carve azhdaha's body in the liking of a dragon, a dragon like him. he'll watch your eyes light up as you approach him with stars in your eyes. zhongli will watch you ask him questions rapidly. does he have horns? what kind of dragon is he? can he fly? these are all questions he'll happily answer. just keep your attention on him, there's only room for one dragon, and who else would it be than zhongli, of course!
synopsis: perhaps who could be the last remaining of the mortals that worshipped you has now become your lover. your affections are now and forever his. you, his god from a place long forgotten, have decided to place your heart in his hands. what do the archons think?
warnings: genshin spoilers, yandere content, yandere cult stuff, mentions of violence, slight gore, mean! reader (yeah ok i wanted to make this hurt so no one's gonna be nice <33)
in your presence, all grudges and rivalry are to be forgotten; time with you cannot and should never be tainted by the sight of battles and bruises. that's been the rule since long ago, and all have placed much emphasis on it after the first fight broke out that left you so very disappointed in them. that is why, even when the tension is as thick as blood, they are left to hold their tongue and stay still.
the three archons stare with a bitter taste in their mouths at the scene before them. you hold dainsleif's face between those soft hands of yours, peppering kisses to the surface of his skin. no space is left untouched; from his forehead and all the way to the sides of his jaw, they are littered with the feeling of your lips grazing them.
zhongli wonders if you know of their sins, the way that they had to slaughter the people of khaenri'ah all those years ago. the only people to worship the true god of their realm had been unrightfully killed like animals under celestia's manipulation. maybe then that could explain why you've called them to your quarters, only to show them not even an ounce of the affection you held for them in the past. all your attention has been directed to who might as well be the last survivor from that time of carnage. even when he's loved you longest, it doesn't matter in the face of your newfound romance.
venti thinks about it too, but he doesn't entertain the thought as long as the former geo archon does. he wills his mind to empty of any complaints and dark fantasies because all that he is, is yours. whatever you may do with him is no longer under his control, and that is what he chose. if you want to play with him until you get bored, toss him away like a toy, and make him kneel on the hardwood floor as your lover sits with you on the plush bed, he has chosen that he has no right to go against it. yet, he cannot help the tears that are threatening to overflow and how the hiccups start to escape from his lips.
on the other hand, baal is a wreck. she seems lifeless, devoid of any feeling as she sits there for what seems like eternity. she was finally so happy to be in your presence fully instead of through that uncaring puppet. it felt so euphoric when you called her ei, but her smile instantly flipped when you had her get on her knees like the other two and in your gentle hold was a man not even acknowledged by celestia. before she turned into the sorry state she is now, she had pawed at the foot of the bed, begging to be touched as well, but what really made her break was the cold look in your eyes when you told her to go back and sit still like a good little puppy.
it's torture, absolute torture.
dainsleif has half a mind to at least notice the archons who lead his entire country to ruin, but his mind feels all hazy as you shower him in a multitude of affection. it surprised and scared him when you had voice out your intention of becoming his lover, surprised because you are his god and scared because you're too pure to be tainted by such sinful hands. still, you decided on him, and he has to follow your wishes as a child of khaenri'ah, but he won't deny how good it feels to be acknowledged by you.
"eyes that shine like stars," you hum, "so pretty." you stare deep into dainsleif's eyes. "dark as the abyss but still glittering like the cosmos."
you caress his cheeks tenderly before entangling your fingers behind his head. "a perfect juxtaposition." dainsleif is quiet, but a soft tug to his blond locks make him whine. "what a good and pretty boy you are, dainsleif."
you're aware of the burning stares directed to your lover, the jealousy and hurt spiking the air the longer you praise the man holding onto your waist like a lifeline. you press your thumb against the mask keeping his skin away from you before you finally turn in the direction of your precious archons. they all sit up straight, and a laugh almost bubbles from your chest.
"i don't want to hear any excuses from you three."
"i expected better from you all, celestia's fault or not. you are worshippers yourselves, so why don't you tell me how you're able to kill innocent men, women, and children who worship me just the same." your voice is gentle, but it slices like the rough edge of a blade. you admit that it's mean, degrading them like this, but you can't care when they showed just as much apathy 500 years ago. they don't even answer, too ashamed to even face you. all their eyes are downcast.
you eye your greatest worshippers. "zhongli?" you see his fist tighten on his lap; it shakes. "venti?" a pained whimper comes from him, and you're almost tempted to comfort him. "ei?" she is quiet, unmoving; there is not even a flinch when you call her name.
you turn back to dainsleif, and your face instantly melts to a look of adoration. "you wanna stay here tonight with me, don't you, lovely?" you coo, and you feel so satisfied when he shakes his head yes.
you don't even look at them this time, but they know you're talking to them when you say, "return, you three." they all stand up, knees sore after kneeling for almost an hour. they move to scurry out of there, but before they leave, you say one more thing.
"you better explain yourselves tomorrow. if not, don't even bother showing your faces ever again."
their reactions to you giving them headpats pt.2 ft. zhongli, venti, xiao, and albedo
warnings: yandere content, yandere cult stuff, mentions of violence, slight gore
zhongli is overjoyed by your affections. you're praising him and acknowledging all his efforts as someone who serves you, and it give him such a power trip. he feels so high and mighty when you pat his head like a good guard dog, and he's ready to snap his canines at whoever it is that comes close to you. he whispers to himself while you press the pads your fingers against his head. no one else deserves this than him. he's worked harder than any other, so be sure to praise him to the fullest.
venti feels calm when he feels the massage of your fingers against his scalp. it feels so much more refreshing than the brush of wind against his skin. it feels invigorating but relaxing. it feels strange but familiar. what a miracle you are to be a perfect juxtaposition. well, you are his god; you are a juxtaposition and more-- you are everything. he thanks you for the praise, and he promises to finally work even harder for you. he'll eve sing until his throat bleeds if that's what it takes.
xiao's pain washes away the moment you touch him. how fitting for a god, he thinks. to cleanse him of all his sins and even give him well-deserved praise really does sound like what a kind deity like you would do. for once, his head doesn't ring with deafening screams and static that haunt him from day to day. he feels thankful to have met you, to have you touch him so tenderly. he's never known love, did not know kindness until you. so please touch him once again. don't dare stop until he's satisfied, unless you want him slaughtering thousands just to have you touch him again.
albedo accepts it with grace like a prince. his long eyelashes flutter close as he sinks to his knees. his head is bowed to make sure you can give him a nice and firm pat to his fluffy hair. he's not tired of the good progress, but he starts to feel the weariness in his bones as you tell him that he did a good job. there is so much more he wishes to do to further progress his research, but he's stopped in his tracks by none other than you, lovely you. how can he go back when you make him want to stay? he's sure that the trash that rudely bumped into you the other day could wait. albedo's sure they can withstand all the chemicals he pumped into them until daybreak.
your fingers dig gently into his cheeks, pulling him by his chin to look at you. the temple is empty, save for your figure sitting upon a throne made of cor lapis and marble. zhongli hunches in front of you as you tug him to eye level. you tilt his head every which angle and admire the smoothness of his skin underneath your touch.
nothing mars his porcelain skin, not even a blemish nor a scar. his jaw looks as if it was carved by the gods themselves, fitting of a divine creature worshipped by the people for millennia. zhongli's lips are pulled into a thin smile, perhaps enjoying the attention you're feeding the ego that makes all the others’ blood boil. you gently run your thumb over his lips, a softness of which you akin to rose petals. you only offer a warm smile.
"you're such a pretty boy, zhongli."
his amber eyes close in pure bliss when you say it, makes him sink down to his knees, and fills the space between your legs. zhongli rests his head on your thigh, and you hum in delight. you stroke his cheek tenderly. he looks adorable like this, you think, almost like a dog. a puppy of your own. all that’s missing now is a collar, and you don’t think he’ll complain if you do give him one.
the ex-archon leans against you, hulking demeanor now reduced to a small pet begging to be loved. you indulge him with gentle whispers of praise for all his hard work, scratching behind his ear where he’s sensitive the most. he shivers along to your every syllable, and you feel right as he submits himself to you.
zhongli’s eyes are glazed over and half-lidded when you run a thumb over his eyelids. “you’re my pretty boy, aren’t you?” he but nods, feverishly at that. “my beautiful boy who can’t be compared to anyone else~”
he croons at your gentle affections, bathing himself in the well-deserved praise he’d been craving for weeks now. in the confines of such a holy place, he lets you touch him however you like. it feels liberating for you, his god, to acknowledge the careful craft in the form he’d taken— if only to please you.
it makes his heart pound, even more, when you pull him by his collar, planting a delicate kiss to the corner of his mouth. wanting more, zhongli whines.
“you love me, right, baby?”
“i do.”
“no one else?”
“no one else.”
he desperately tries to reach towards you again, too preoccupied trying to stay within your graces to notice the woman brought in by childe at the entrance— the one who’s been trying to take your dearest acolyte away from you. she’s gagged and bound, kicked by the harbinger to get on her knees and forcing her to watch the two of you with a harsh pull of her hair.
you smirk at the lovely reaction displayed on her face as she watches the formal funeral attendant she’s been flirting with practically clawing at your feet like a beggar on the streets.
“tell me then, zhongli. tell me how much you love me.”
zhongli litters his own kisses to your skin, from your knees up to your knuckles. it's heaven for him to be able to worship you this way, giving all that he is just to make you smile. he answers you after your fingers find themselves tangled with his silky hair, locks maintained to utmost smoothness and softness just so you would run your hands through them.
his gloved hands squeeze at your thighs. "there's nothing i'd give for you. you are my lifeline, my sole purpose for being. there is no doubt in my mind that i am meant for you. i and all that i am is at your disposal, serving you for the rest of my existence."
a deranged smile dances its way on his face, and a shiver goes through your body. "even if i have to burn the whole of teyvat to show my love, i'd do it in a heartbeat."
you give him a warm smile, spinning your index finger as a gesture for him to turn around. he lifts himself (stuttering in the process, you notice. he already misses your warmth) and faces the entrance, the sight of childe holding down another forgettable face greeting him. he looks bored just watching the scene before him.
"you remember her?"
"yes."
"good; this should make things easier." you push yourself to stand up, zhongli, ever so reverent, offering you his hand as you get up. "zhongli--" he hums in response-- "get rid of her." you press your lips to his cheek, and he gets to work immediately.
headcannons where you and cult!zhongli are mistaken as a couple and xiao is your son
note: i just had to write this. there’s no way i couldn’t. it might be 12am but fuck it
warnings: yandere content, yandere cult stuff
it gives great pride to zhongli when you praise all the hard work that is liyue. he’s living for all your praise as you stroll down the entirely of liyue. your comments on the lovely architecture and beautiful traditions, your attention on the delicate petals of silk flowers, and the joyful look on your face as you have a taste of all the finest cuisine he has served— all of them he takes much satisfaction in.
he goes soft too as you find yourself dressed in garb that matches is. zhongli doesn’t hesitate to feel smug over the notion that you’re covered in his colors. he’s too enamored by how lovely you look when you’re dressed like you’re his that he doesn’t even mind when xiao comes to tag along on your journey.
xiao fears the risk of his karmic debt affecting any of civilians, but while he is the protector of liyue, he is first and foremost your servant. the contract of serving you far outweighs the worth of any other mortal in his eyes. he is the reason for the fall of many beings, gods and mortals alike. what difference does it make if one or two more are added to the count?
you three arrive at the very top of liyue harbor where you’re greeted by madame ping. she spots zhongli and xiao as the geo archon helps you climb the last few steps with your hand and his. this little detail surely didn’t fly by madame ping.
she’ll comment on how lovely of a couple you two make. with age comes humor, and she brings up the idea of you three looking like a nice little family to tease the uptight yaksha whose finally been coaxed out of his shell.
zhongli doesn’t want to make you uncomfortable even if he does like the idea of it, so he’d be planning to correct the old woman. he just becomes flustered when you turn shy, smiling away behind you sleeve and obviously into the concept of being a couple as well. he stays quiet, but what he saw doesn’t leave him even after you two come home.
xiao doesn’t say anything either, but the blush on his face is so obvious. he doesn’t really want to be compared to a child, but he’s not opposed to the affection that comes along with the title. the thought of you coddling him like a little kid makes him feel some sort of way that makes him warm and fuzzy like never before
zhongli’s idea of you being his spouse is forever ingrained into his head, and it is further solidified by the scene in front of him. your little trio is seated in one of the most prestigious restaurants in all of liyue with all kinds of mouth-watering dishes presented on your table.
the glittering sight of vegetables and the savory scent of meat can’t entice him like him watching you dab a napkin at the corner of xiao’s mouth, asking him to carefully chew on his almond tofu instead of scarfing it down.
it really feels like he’s your husband when you chastise him for not teaching xiao how to eat his food properly. “adeptus or not,” you reason, “it’s still important to chew your food properly. what if he ends up choking?”
zhongli will apologize for his own mistakes, saying how he’ll correct it. for the time being, he’s happy to watch you act like the loving family you three are.
Summary: After you adopt the young dragon and named him you take him with you to take a stroll around the village
"Your grace?" you raised your head to see him standing in front of you looking kinda shy "Yes Morax, what is it?" you raised your eyebrow and stop writing, putting the brush down to the table, seeing him playing with his hands you can tell that he's nervous to tell you something "Morax, you may speak what you desire dear."
