I'm just a giant cucumber with anxiety
My twin upon seeing me in my dinosaur onesie for the first time: "....what are you wearing? Oh my god. I thought it was a giant cucumber."
1. Fudan University gate
2. Very large cucumber being peeled on Wudong Lu, the street on which our apartment complex (Tonghe Village) is located.
3. Pretty flowers I bought from a vendor in a makeshift water bottle vase.
4. Some of our group at the pretty lotus pond in People's Square.
5. Another lotus pond. An older Chinese man was yelling "seven!" at us after one of our group counted to three to take this picture. He was trying to explain that "seven" would make us smile more widely. Maybe that is why I'm mid-laugh.
6. Last summer, our Doing Business in China travel-study group stumbled upon this amusement park ride in People's Square and I hoped it was still there. Took a while for us to find it, but after wandering around the gardens portion of the square we found it! Great ride with great views.
7. Morning exercise: waltzing at Wanda Plaza by Wujiaochang metro station. There were of course more traditional morning exercise groups such as those doing taichi and stretches, but I was very surprised to see these adorable middle to older Chinese waltzing at 7 AM in the morning on a weekday. Great community-building and it seems like a great way to keep fit and stay social.
8. Evening exercise: more ballroom dancing! This was taken at around 9:30 PM on my way home from the French Concession. Again, I was amazed that they would exercise and have activities at this hour. Most shops and restaurants close at 8 or 9 PM so relative to regular business hours, this seemed pretty late.
i reread the sausage tree cucumber saga and it's still funny three hours later
I got 60 notes for laughing about someone eating a poisonous plant
what has the world come to
My sister and I have been keeping up with the giant cucumber drama for the last hour and we probably shouldn't be laughing so much
So I grew this monster of a cucumber.
