One cool piece of kit.

For the 2015 series of BattleBots, creator Mark Setrakian was asked to build a stand to hold the trophy (known as the Giant Nut - yes really). His creation is called The Axis.

Using a camera in the palm that reads a tiny dot on the base of the plinth, The Axis can correct its grip on the fly.

It's the second incarnation of the exhibit, as Axis ver.1 (seen holding the globe above) had a true thumb. The new version was made specifically for BattleBots.
