Giant Centipede Eating a Whole Snake. Centipede attacking a snake, made all the more disturbing by the fact the clawed creature chose a moment when the snake was at its most vulnerable - while it was laying eggs. Horror-pedes belonging to the vicious Scolopendrid group are known to eat not just their typical fare of insects, but also various vertebrates. The nocturnal, multi-legged creatures spanning up to 10 cm (4 in) have been caught prowling on rat babies in nests, lizards, bats, and even birds. Centipedes are long, especially Scolopendra. Based off a memory of a photo posted by @_256colors of the most beautiful Scolopendra heros I have ever seen. Vietnamese centipede (Scolopendra subspinipes) on lava in Kailua-Kona. Large and highly venomous, but apparently rarely kills you. Not sure what the white blob is near the head. Note to self when in Hawai’i: check shoes before putting them on.

May 6 - We found it crossing the road on our way back to Muang Ngoy after a full day of hiking. It was nearly a foot long!
