What a day. Lots of work, train delays, and then a missing Diggo. Nothing quite gets your heart rate up like a tarantula about the size of your hand loose for who knows how long. All my bugs are in really secure cages, but she was in a handmade container her original owner made in an architecture class. The seal had simply worn out and the plastic distorted over time. She was clearly easily able to push her way out as the broken side was against the wall of my bookshelf and I didn't notice. . . I wondered how I'd find her and then noticed ridiculous webbing going up the side of the bookshelf. No local spider could make webbing this thick. It went all the way to the top, behind the books, to every shelf, to my dinosaur parade, and back down again so she had a grand time of it. The last video shows where I found her, across from the bookshelf. . . She's rehoused in a secure container now. It latches closed and while I thought the walls might be too much for her to climb I caught her climbing the glass already. I might need to give her some material to climb on if she likes it that much. I thought her species was terrestrial but she REALLY likes to go up. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bp01pQUA1Ap/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1thjzqmgdc021
