G/t scenario idea:
A really self conscious giant finally opening up to one of their smaller friends, who tells them “At my size, I can see a lot more detail in things. Things you giants pass off as perfect have all kinds of imperfections and defects, but when I look at you... there’s nothing about you that I can’t find beautiful.”
A G/t Fluff Thought:
I know a lot of people like the fun of a giant “throwing their size around" intentionally or unintentionally, but honestly I love it when the giant shows the tiny a lot of understanding and respect instead.
Like when they realize how much the tiny is trembling at the sight of them, so they just take a few steps back and say “Ah, sorry if I scared you! I’ll back away if it makes you more comfortable. Now, is there anything I can help you with?” and the tiny hesitantly sets their fears aside to trust the oddly friendly, cooperative giant...
An idea for a g/t video game:
You wake up laying on the ground, surrounded by untamed nature. After a bit of wandering, you find the ruins of a village, some tools, and a protective vest you could use to help yourself survive out here.
The game would be very survival-focused, as you repair or salvage your tools, look for food, and defend yourself against monsters.
Eventually, you’d start coming across tiny villages that are hidden in places that are hard for you to reach. You can do things like leave gifts with notes explaining that they’re peace offerings or make a point of defending the little villages when monsters approach, and the tinies will slowly begin to trust you and eventually will be willing to show themselves to you.
The tinies would be willing to trade with you or offer advice once they trust you enough, and if they’re 100% certain you’re not dangerous, one might decide to travel with you and could access areas you’re too big to get into, letting you play as the tiny as they explore these miniature places and find useful items or information.
If you run out of HP in an area near a tiny village, depending on how much they trust you you might wake up with a little bit of HP and find out that they bandages your injuries and treated your wounds after you collapsed.
You could also play as a crueler giant and take what you want instead of trading, but this means you’ll never be saved by the tinies and you’ll have to deal with giant slayers who will poison you while you’re resting, making you weaker so monsters can more easily pick you off.
The goal of the game could be up to you. Maybe you wanna find a way home, maybe you wanna find out what happened to the “giants” who used to be in this world, or maybe you just want to live here and be a gentle giant for the smaller folk you meet. In the end, it’s up to you.
Angsty + fluffy g/t story idea:
A giant who’s paranoid from all the aspiring giant-slayers and angry mobs that’ve chased them around ends up finding a lost tiny whose leg has been injured.
The giant assumes they’re faking it to lure the giant in before attacking, so they decide to try and scare the tiny away so they don’t have to worry about this potential giant-slayer following them.
“Not many people come out this far in the woods or mountains... You must know why that is, you’re seeing first-hand that terrible giants live out here... You can act hurt all you want, but I know you’re just waiting for a chance to strike... You can run away, y’know. You can get far, far away from here and never have to ever see a giant again.”
The tiny is terrified but clearly can’t escape due to their injury, and they’re very confused when the giant suddenly realizes they’ve been scaring some poor innocent person and immediately starts apologizing while on the brink of tears.
The giant offers to make a bandage and splint for the tiny’s leg and to let them rest at the giant’s home while they recover, and the tiny initially doesn’t trust them, but realizes the alternative is being left alone in the snow, and agrees to accept the giant’s help.
The giant is just as nervous as the tiny. They can’t help but worry that the tiny is planning some sort of long-term thing where they’ll betray the giant, either trapping them with some angry mob or poisoning them, etc.
Despite their fears, the duo slowly grows closer. The tiny notices how the giant tenses up as they speak and how they look more worried than malevolent, and decides that they can’t be as terrible as the stories say.
The tiny manages to befriend the giant, and the giant eventually admits that they’re scared that when they bring the tiny back home, there’ll be a whole crowd waiting to take them down. After being asked if there are giants just as bad as the stories say, the giant replies “Only a few. Most are just scared, the worst they’ll do is try to take enough food to eat. I’m not a monster, I just want to live, and I’m so exhausted of having to hide knowing what smaller people think of me... It’s ridiculous, I can hide out in the middle of nowhere and they’ll act like I’ve created an evil lair to lure others into. I just want to get to live.”
The tiny becomes determined to reassure everyone that this giant is harmless once they get back home. They decide they’re going to do their best to try and help the giant be accepted into their village.
The giant carries the tiny most of the way home, and the tiny uses makeshift crutches to walk the rest of the way there. Once they’re safely reunited with their family, they confidently spread stories about the giant they met and how sweet and caring the giant was. Of course, people don’t exactly believe them until they point out some reasons why they can’t be lying (I haven’t figured any reasons out yet), and eventually decide to introduce the giant to them.
The giant is a little terrified by this idea, but reluctantly agrees. The giant waits by the village’s outskirts, trying to seem smaller and less scary by sitting down. At first, the people are really suspicious, but then someone close to the tiny (a relative or friend) steps forward and thanks the giant for helping the tiny. The relative/friend holds out a hand to shake the giant’s, and the giant hesitates, but holds out their finger to accept the handshake.
It takes time, but soon enough people are willing to accept the giant into the village. Finally, the giant has a sense of community and comfort, and feels like maybe there’s a chance things can be set right for all giants if things were able to be set right here.
Autumn + Winter G/t daydreams:
-Drinking cocoa from a barrel or thimble.
-Keeping your smaller friends in your pocket or hood so they’ll be warm and safe.
-Tinies decorating their homes with colorful leaves.
-Rescuing a freezing tiny from the cold rain or snow and giving them a warm washcloth to wrap up in, or setting up a small Tupperware container to act as a bathtub for them so they can warm up.
-Wearing fuzzy hoods purely because you figured it would be more comfortable for a tiny to ride in a hood like that.
-Holding a tiny and feeling them warm up your cold hands.
-Introducing giants or tinies to holidays like Halloween and various other festivities they wouldn’t have been able to participate in before.
-Seeing someone whose car got stuck in the snow, and offering to carry it and them home for them.
I had an idea for a G/t video game!
Basically, I imagined a game where you have a BOTW-style start, waking up in a shrine or temple and having no clue how you ended up there, or who you are.
You find some old tools in the temple, some protective clothes, and start looking for answers.
I wanted the main gameplay focus to be like, a survival RPG, but the g/t element comes in when you find these little villages inhabited by tiny people.
They don’t exactly wanna answer to a giant carrying a knife bigger than the average person to them, so they all hide from you at first. In the temple, you can find some paper and a pen, and you can use these to write notes and attach them to items. Normally this would just be a way to make your own description for items, but with the little towns you could do things like take a fruit and add a note to it explaining that it’s a gift, and you don’t wanna cause any harm.
Once they trust you enough, you can trade goods with them, ask for help with a task, ask for directions (finding other temples furthers the plot), or even ask if one wants to come along and help you. (Since there are some places only they could reach)
Alternatively, you could force your way through, threatening them, taking what you want, etc., but that means they’ll start having giant slayers come after you. Sometimes you’ll wake up poisoned or bleeding because one of them attacked you while you rested.
I’d wanna make sure that there would be multiple stats to show your reputation with the tiny people. There’s a big difference between a sweet giant offering you some fruit then asking for directions, and a giant killing a huge monster in front of you, then walking up to you covered in monster blood and asking if you’re okay.
So there could be trust, fear, hate, and sympathy, and those would go up or down based on your actions.
The big reveal would be kinda cliche, it turns out this is the world after humanity’s end, and you were essentially a lab-grown human made in an automated process. Humanity refused to die and tried to make sure it would persist, and you’re the result.
These “temples” are actually old laboratories that’ve fallen into disrepair. Some of the research humans did predicted how these tiny people would evolve from some other creature, but they didn’t consider them much in their plan to continue humanity.
You’d meet other humans/giants in really rare scenarios, and they’d have their own opinions on how to handle the situation. In the end, you’d find the last functioning machine for this process and have to decide if you want humanity to persist or accept that it’ll end. You can activate the machine and let it carry on its process (making a new generation of humans that’ll be here after you) or break the machine. You’d have to decide whether you think it’s right to risk the next humans being bad, exploitive people like some of the ones you met, or right to take no chances and just let things happen without intervention.
Another g/t story idea:
I was thinking about how I’ve seen tinies depicted with oversized clothes a few times (big sweaters are so cute), and I thought “huh, I wonder if anyone’s ever had a giant end up with an oversized outfit like that before” and then a story idea popped into my head.
In a Lilliput scenario (like, there are small islands with small people), people find out about the existence of tinies and agree to send a diplomat who already has some experience with tinies (maybe they were one of the people who discovered the tinies?) to talk with them and try to help clear things up. The tinies figure they should prepare for a literal giant coming to meet them, so they plan out things like meals, an additional change of clothes, a rudimentary mattress, a blanket, a sweater due to the cold weather, etc...
However, they misjudged just how giant this diplomat would be, and the diplomat figures they should put on the sweater just to be kind and as a result, the diplomat ends up having all sorts of serious conversations while wearing an oversized sweater with sleeves that their arms don’t fully reach through.
The tinies are sort of confused at the sight because on one hand, the giant is massive compared to them but also somewhat small compared to how they imagined a giant. They expected some massive, ogre-like beast of a person, as opposed to someone who just looks fairly normal but scaled up.
The tinies comment on it a few times (“you don’t exactly look as... intimidating as we expected.”), but the diplomat just takes pride in it, assuming that their skills as a diplomat must transcend even the fact they tower over the people they’re trying to make peace with.
Yet Another G/t Story Idea:
A story about a human who was stranded on Lilliput as a kid and grew up there, only to end up finding out that there’s a whole world of “giants” and trying to adapt to it and act like a diplomat between the Lilliputians and the “giants”
I’m thinking that when the kid got stranded on lilliput they were probably around 10 or something, so they could be talked to and reasoned with but they wouldn’t remember the other “giants” later on due to dissociative amnesia, to use a fancy word for it.
I’m willing to bet they got a harsh treatment at first (being separated from their family, possibly injured when they ended up stranded, and then the harsh treatment all coming together to lead to them blocking out a lot of early memories, hence the dissociative amnesia thing), probably being seen more like a monstrous prisoner than a person by the rulers before people went “look, we aren’t gonna kill a literal child, regardless of whether they’re a Lilliputian or a giant” and then someone took on the responsibility of teaching them about Lilliputian life, raising them to participate in Lilliputian society.
I imagine they met humans in early adulthood, and depending on their personality they’d probably either be intrigued (“Woah... they look like me!”) or freaked out. (“THERE ARE LITERAL GIANTS OVER THERE OH MY GOD— I MEAN, YEAH, I AM A GIANT TOO BUT STILL!! ACTUAL GIANTS!”)
