Lovers Exile A GT Story Chapter 4
I’m hyper fixating on this so you get multiple chapters quickly lol I can’t promise it a lot, but this story has been in my head forever so here we are! This chapter has KISSING enjoy!
Two months went by and the two had formed a stronger bond. Barley brought back food he would put in the clan’s food storage hut preparing for winter when no one noticed, doing his part in protecting the clan. The harvest season was almost upon them and he hoped that somehow he could convince the clan to collect from the garden and have Serena stay away while they did. He had no plans to tell them about their friendship. Serena agreed to the plan and she was happy to share and would continue to show him new things to try as they would sit and have coffee or talk in the garden as they continued to care for it. He did as much as he could where she pulled weeds and watered. He used his small sword and cut bad growth to keep the plans healthy. She tried to pull him away from the garden when she could as she would tell him he didn’t need to help. Sometimes even picking him up in her fist, against his struggles and dropping him in her shirt or overall pocket so he would take the hint. They became closer as time went on. Something was rising that held more than the friendship in both of them that they tried to ignore due to the boundaries of their lives and differences.
“I’m surprised you came today, we’re supposed to have pretty bad weather.” Serena sat at the kitchen table with a cup of tea this time reading when a small tap on the window brought her attention to the tiny wanting to come in, asking for consent. She spoke as she opened the window and he hurried in.
“It doesn’t look bad, how do you know?” He asked as he breathed from his run here.
“I read the weather this morning.” She held up a slim box he noticed a few times, but never used too much when he was around, but it lay ominously around. As she tapped it, it lit up and he froze as she tapped on something and it opened. He recognized what looked like weather symbols and could understand that it was a weather prediction.
“Your light box tells you this?” She has the phone in front of him and it dwarfed him slightly.
“It’s a phone, remember? Yea we use these for all sorts of things.” She giggled before taking it back to read it.
“Yeah we’re supposed to have some bad thunderstorms anytime now.” As she spoke there was a rumble.
Barley looked back as rain drops began.
“Traveling in the rain isn't the safest for us.” He sighed. He thought back to his mother and the bad storm then and his heart dropped.
“You can stay here until it clears up, I don’t mind.” She winked as she pulled a tiny cup she acquired for him from her cupboard and poured him a cup of brewed tea from her own. He smelled it and it smelled of spice.
“It’s black tea.” She motioned before picking up her own to drink. He took a sip and realized he found a drink he really enjoyed. She placed her hand down and he hopped on like clockwork before she carried him to a desk there in the large kitchen.
“I have some writing to do for work, but you’re welcome to keep me company.” She set him down as she sat down. He watched her turn the computer on and he watched as she clicked things with the deemed mouse. This had become a common routine for them when he visited. He had found her at her desk many times when visiting and would enjoy chatting while she worked on the bright screen. The technology of humans was fascinating to him.
He sat down and relaxed as she typed. The silence of the rain and the clicking relaxing him. He
After some time he felt the warmth and familiar scent of Serena as her hand approached him. Her floral soap that reminded him of the flower fields made his heart beat steady and calmly. He was half asleep as her hand very cautiously came behind him and scooped him up, fingers lightly curling around his form. He had grown more comfortable with this over the weeks. He didn’t fight as he trusted her and the warmth of her hand was so relaxing. He melted into the softness of her fingers. He squirmed to where he could face her as he opened his eyes to gaze up into hers.
“You look sleepy, why don’t we turn on a movie in the living room?” He didn't fully respond as she lifted his form and continued to hold him in her fingers, supporting him as he laid against her. She seemed to be staring at him as he adjusted to lean into the fingers enveloping him. He could hear her giggling before he felt something brush his messy hair back. He blinked as her other hand had come up and her index finger had found his locks. She stroked it before her finger tip slid down the side of his head and as he watched her through half open eyes she as carefully as she could poked him on the nose. He leaned back with a surprised laugh.
“What was that?” He furrowed his brow playfully.
“I don’t know, you’re just so fascinating being so small and stuff.”
He opened his eyes fully as she carried him closely to her form before heading to the living room. He hadn't really been in other places in the house other than the kitchen, but he didn’t stir or fight as she settled on the couch, laying her body down the length of it, holding his form in her fingers. She seemed to be admiring him again there in her hand before he felt her set him down upon softness. He came awake again and looked around to see he was placed on her upper chest, hearing her heart. He could feel it below him. He looked up at her as she clicked a button on another strange box and a large screen further from them came alive. He jumped slightly but her hand still against him simply stroked his back to calm him.
“This is a TV, we watch things.” She turned a channel and he watched as he saw conversations, action and such upon it. He sat up, mesmerized. He felt her giggle behind him. He turned with a playful frown.
“What’s so funny?”
“You’re just so cute. You look so focused.” She continued to giggle. He rolled his eyes and turned to her with his body.
“Cute?” He playfully acted offended. She nodded and her index finger came up and ruffled his hair softly. He yelped and looked up at it in surprise. He grabbed it between his hands and brought it down to his eye level. He leaned into it looking back at her. He saw the blush on her face. She didn’t hide it well.
“For your information I’m quite intimidating and have a larger form for a borrower. I’m respected for my strength, not my cuteness.” He lifted an arm to flex playfully. She blushed a little harder as she giggled again.
“Besides, you're cuter when you blush.” He grinned before he hugged the finger in his grip. She froze and turned away from him.
“Nope, I’m not blushing.” She lied playfully. He stood up and crossed his arms.
“And I’m actually a moth.”
“That makes sense.” She chuckled looking at him quickly, furrowing her brow. He gasped. He stepped closer and without realizing it he was much closer to her face than he planned. She stared at him almost anticipating his next move. He eyed her face, taking it all in. He observed their similarity and how he could see every detail so clearly. He took another step closer till he was just one more step from her face as she looked down at him from her awkward laying position. He gulped as his eyes moved from her relatively small nose to her plump cheeks, down to her lips. He had to look away as he thought about what they would feel like.
“Now who's blushing?” She whispered. The warmth of her breath washed over him and he looked back up at her eyes. They were soft in their gaze and her face was just as red as his. He finally grew the nerve to approach further and with another step he moved his hand to touch her chin. He couldn’t quite touch her lips, but as if she was reading his mind she brought a hand behind him and readjusted to where he was eye level with them. He kept looking back at her eyes for reassurance, but she watched him so carefully. Her lips twitched and she almost seemed to be fighting the urge to lean toward him with them. He moved his hand again and softly placed it on her bottom lip. He pressed into it and it moved like a pillow. He grazed his hand across the skin and she twitched slightly.
“That tickles.” She whispered, barely speaking to not scare him. His fear as a borrower slid up when her mouth opened as she spoke, but his friendship and trust would push it back down. She wouldn’t hurt him, she had proven that after saving him, growing comfortable from her handling him many times, and her kindness. They had grown so close and his friendship blossomed a new feeling he wasn’t familiar with, not with a human anyway. He took one last shaky breath and leaned forward. She met him halfway, closing her eyes. She didn’t move her lips at first, letting him lead and have control, but it was obvious they were on the same page. He at first just leaned against them and enjoyed how soft they were. He could sleep here and he might try that at some point, he thought. He then leaned to the bottom lip and laid a kiss upon it before repeating it between the center of her bottom lip and the top. After a minute of him kissing her, she followed suit. To not hurt him or jostle him, her hand came against his back and she leaned into him, pressing her lips into his form, pinning him against them and giving him what to her was a small soft kiss. He yelped slightly before her kiss enveloped him. It was unreal the suction pulled him closer and the pressure of her lips against him was completely new. He loved it. He leaned into it and kissed back as best he could. Her kiss didn't just take up his face, but his whole body. She kissed him again and again as they ignored the tv and embraced each other's company in the innocence of the moment.
“Where is my son?” Chief Timber called to the royal guard approaching his house.
“I thought he was here.” Aven frowned as he held his helmet.
“He is not. There is a bad storm coming and I can feel it. Find him now!” He yelled at the guard. Aven nodded.
“Check the cottage.” Timber finished before stepping away. Aven called to a few other soldiers before whistling. As he whistled a finch flew down from a perch and with a closer look it was decorated with a saddle. He climbed on as others did the same to some others.
“We must hurry before the storm!” He whipped the reins and the finch took off with a chirp. They soared quickly to the cottage, watching the ground below as the rain began. As the cottage grew in sight he observed the giant birds in the cage, not out near the garden as told. He pointed to the gate and they came down quickly, the finch narrowing their wings for a dive before swooping up and landing softly. He hopped off his bird and pulled his blade. He looked upon the ground and noticed footprints. They were Barleys. He leaned down to feel them and looked at their direction.
“He went to the garden.” He followed as the other soldiers followed, armed with blades to bows of their own. They each wore armor made from thick layers of leaves.
From the garden the tracks led to the cottage itself and they froze.
“Sir.” One tried before Aven lifted his hand to quiet him.
“We follow.” He cautiously followed the trail. It led to the window, before it was apparent he had climbed up there. They noticed a rope he had tied to the top so he could get up and down. They each followed his path until they reached the window sill. It was closed, creating fear. Aven walked forward and wiped the glass. He froze when he saw the human facing away from them in a chair. He hasn’t seen a human his entire life and the fear seeped in. As he watched he noticed movement and his eyes jumped to the form at her side. Barley was sitting there, no cage, watching whatever she was doing. Aven blinked before stepping back.
“He’s communicating with her?” One gasped. He looked down with a feeling of dread as he would have to deliver the news. The rain grew heavier.
“We will return, he will not travel in this weather. Get the birds, we must till Chief Timber.” He instructed as he looked back to see her hand moving toward him.
“Just like Falin.” He whispered and stepped toward the rope to slide down after the others.

Lovers Exile A GT Story Chapter 3
It continues!! This chapter a bit more angst but it’s still cute!
No matter his father’s words, he continued to visit the cottage every day he could escape unnoticed. He would wait a day or two when his father was busy with clan business and his guards were occupied with the duties to protect the clan.
It wasn't more than two days before he was off again this time. He snuck from his home within the logs of the clan’s home through the clearing protected by tall grass and leaves as he carried his trusted travel bag towards the path into the tall grass.
As a field borrower he was accustomed to this environment. A borrower that was more accustomed to living within a human dwelling would find the vast fields and forests dangerous due to the unfamiliar wildlife and ways to survive they weren't adapted to.
“Barley!” He heard the wind rushing towards him. He turned quickly to see the guard leader, Aven coming down from his perch upon the tall branches of a nearby bush. He came down so quickly with his trusted web woven rope. The stretch and strength helped him more quickly from higher spots to the ground without injury. He pulled it and it came down behind him and he rolled it as he approached Barley.
“Where might you be off to?” He asked, eyeing the younger man. Barley gripped his bag at his side a bit tighter.
“I’m going foraging. We have to prepare for winter.” He was half lying. Aven nodded before turning back to the bustling hidden village.
“Be careful, it seems the human has wandered into the field, my scouts have reported it.” Aven sighed.
“Just what we need. They have stayed far enough away, but if they grow too close we may have to move the village.” Barley didn't respond, just nodded. Aven noticed this and gave him a look of suspicion.
“Are you alright Barley?”
“Yes, of course! I’m going to go now.” He nodded with a wave before turning to the path trying to get away from the guard. Aven didn't follow much to his relief. He sighed as he paced towards the gate in the distance. He had to address this.
He finally made it to the gate and as he crossed under it he noticed the yard was quiet. He cautiously began into the yard and still no sign of Serena. He was confused as she was usually out here. He saw the chickens were in their outdoor enclosure so she had been out. He figured she was inside.
There at the window he climbed a rope he fastened for himself so he could climb her window quickly and when he did he noticed it wasn’t cracked as usual. It was rather strange and he peered in. She wasn’t at her desk or in the kitchen. He hummed in confusion before hopping back down and looking around for another way in. As he walked away from the window he saw a hole just big enough for a borrower or a mouse to get into the old cottage. He pulled his blade just in case and slipped in before following the dark path. He didn’t want to come in unannounced, but he was worried as to why she wasn’t around like usual.
Darkness began to light as he found where it opened. It was a crack behind an old bookcase and he crawled his way out and onto the open floor. He was in the dining room, not too far from the kitchen.
“Serena?” He called as he walked into the hall that led to the living room. It was silent in the house. There were no footsteps or anything. He turned and peaked into the living room and still saw no sign of her. Then he drew his sights to the other rooms. He had never ventured this far so he investigated as he moved through the new areas. Then he came to a cracked door. He slid through and looked around. It was a bedroom. It was decorated with books on huge bookshelves and pictures on the walls. He saw the sage green decorated bed and there Serena was fast asleep. He stayed on the floor for a moment just watching her. She lay on her side and her face adorably smashed into the pillow. He was confused because she was out cold, asleep in the middle of the day. He worried something was wrong.
After staring like a creeper he shook himself from it and decided to check on her.
“I hope she isn’t mad I’m here.” He whispered as he climbed up the cover that draped over the side. She tossed a bit and her breathing was soft and calm which was a good sign to Barley. She squeaked softly when she moved and he thought he was gonna die from cuteness overload. He stood on the edge further away from her keeping space.
“Serena?” He called. She did not answer. He sighed and saw her hand close to him partially cupped, palm up. He took a breath and approached it before reaching his hand. It pressed to her index finger and for a moment he was mesmerized by the difference in this size. He didn't fear her, but the fact her finger dwarfed his hand created a respect for the carefulness that was needed. Before he could push and try to wake her, her hand twitched and she began to stir. He yelped as she moved her hand towards him, sweeping his feet from under him and causing him to fall into her palm face first. When he was sprawled out upon it, he fought the urge to stay there from its warmth. This cottage was chilly and he felt like he was laying upon a bed of warm coals. He quickly cleared his head and sat up. She was still out and he tried his voice again.
“Serena!” He called before her hand shifted again and this time began to close. He couldn't move fast enough before her hand completely closed around him. He feared she would accidentally squish him, but she stopped stirring for a moment and her fist was soft. He was hugged all around and he realized it was limp. He squirmed a bit trying to slide out before he heard her inhale and begin to open her eyes. He blushed from the predicament and her eyes went straight to her hand with him still enclosed in it. He was pinned while his hands pushed from the side of her palm.
“Barley?” She blinked before her hand loosened and opened. He tumbled onto the mattress and sat up bashfully. She jumped before giggling a bit. She began to sit up and he watched, staying put as the mattress bounced.
“What are you doing here?” She yawned. She turned to sit on the bed criss-cross facing him.
“I didn't see you anywhere so I came to make sure you were okay. I was worried something was wrong when you were sleeping.” He sat as well.
“Oh I pulled an all nighter for work so I needed a nap.” She stretched. He cocked his head.
“You stayed up all night?” He asked. She nodded.
“Yea I needed to finish some stuff. I feel better now, but I think a cup of coffee would help.” She scooted to the edge of the bed and stood before turning back to him. He nodded before hopping onto her hand extending down to him.
As they chatted a bit more he finally brought it up.
“Serena, the guard from my clan has seen you coming out into the field, why?” He didn't want to assume she was looking for more signs of the clan, but he had to address this. She didn't frown or even blink.
“Oh I was cleaning up from the trash blown there.” She motioned to the trashbag visible from outside the back door window. He looked as well.
“People throw trash out from their cars and it's so bad for the environment I wanted to get rid of it and I am sure it's not great in the field for you guys.” She took a sip of her coffee.
“Yeah, we usually stay away from it because it's human. My people are afraid that going too close, a human will come back for it.”
“That makes sense. I just wanted to clean up a bit of the field, I didn't want to hurt anyone so I was careful and made sure I saw no Borrowers. You said guard?” She asked after assuring him.
“Yes. The guard is our protection. They are trained as warriors and are the most fearless of us.” He fiddled with his hands.
“I was supposed to become one, but my father is very protective. He is a great leader, but he is afraid to lose me like he lost my mother. She was a guard. She protected us and helped the clan escape a flood after a horrible storm when I was a child.” He paused. He didn't look up, but Serena put her coffee cup down.
“I’m so sorry Barley.” She managed to get out.
“It's alright. I don't think I’m cut out for it. I’m not brave enough to be a guard.” Before he would add anything he jumped as her finger came into view and carefully stroked his cheek before sliding underneath his chin and lifting it for him to look at her. She leaned down to see his face more clearly.
“I think you’re the bravest. You came here to help your clan from my birds. I love them, but they can be mean. If you hadn't, I wouldn't have known you even existed and I can’t even imagine accidentally hurting you guys or causing you harm indirectly either.” She spoke.
“None of them came here to do what you did.”
“Well this is very forbidden.” He motioned to everything. She pulled back in response before he reached for her to stop her. She froze in place and he pulled that digit back and leaned his head into it.
“I trust you.” He spoke.

LIKE MY TOTALLY NOT SELF INSERT OC IS A MIX BETWEEN A DEER AND A MOTH!! AND THEY COULD BE SOSOSO CUTIE! AND STAY AUTHENTIC TO THEIR DESIGN!!

With the co-dom genes, a human could be borrower size if their parents were like…an anthropomorphic mouse and human.
