Memories of sorrow for Gidge
It had all happened so fast. The panic, the sudden pain followed by a loss of feeling at all and Gideon didn’t know who was screaming. At least, not until he felt someone’s arms around him, holding him up but holding him back while his dad tried to restart his twin’s heart.
Everything after had been a bit of a blur. He remembered it in bits and pieces. Darcy hooked up to machines in the back, dad making frantic calls, momma’s arms wrapped around him while they sat in the room with Darcy.
Different people had come and gone, but he didn’t remember who or what their names were. Wouldn’t have even recognized them as being present if he saw them again. All that mattered was he could barely feel Darcy.
He remembered asking their mom if Dars was going to be okay, asking dad when he was going to wake up. Yes and soon were the answers given but they didn’t help.
Sleeping had been difficult too and Gideon had spent nights pacing around the room, trying to calm his restless mind before crawling into the bed with Darcy and refusing to move.
It had been the only thing that had helped.
