Haverford is deeply saddened to hear the loss of one of its brightest and most promising students, Tristan Ogden. Although Tristan passed due to tragic circumstances, we wish to deter attention away from the circumstances and rather remember Tristan as the bright light he was in every life he touched. 

The university’s administration will be hosting a candlelight vigil at sundown on Friday. Everyone is encouraged to join us and participate in this celebration of life regardless of you knowing Tristan or not. This is a perfect chance to give thanks for your loved ones as family members and friends share stories about Tristan. 

Candles will be provided to participants upon arrival. If you have any questions please contact our Dean of Student Affairs.

HAVEFORD's SPRING BONFIRE

Every semester Haverford University hosts a bonfire to signal the start of the semester and everything else that comes along with it. For decades this tradition has grown to become a city-wide event where everyone is welcomed to take part in the festivities. Everyone gathers around for a good time with friends and neighbors before igniting the future in a majestic fire. Attendees are encouraged to bring one letter with the things they wish to lose in the fire as a symbolism of rebirth.

With the bonfire comes the start of a series of university-wide events which will be available on the calendar through the end of the semester in May. However, the city has taken to this tradition to do just that as well by starting their own calendar which is rebooted with every bonfire. Curious as to what some of those events may be? Here is a preview:

The bonfire will start Friday 2/26 at 4pm PST (as always, there is a clock on the main please look at it before asking questions about time). It is a BYOB event but be mindful of the possible minors in attendance. This is a great opportunity to get to know someone new and get excited about what is coming up!

school lockdown

Due to the undergoing investigation to establish the safety of school grounds, Haverford will be on lock down until further notice. Nobody is allowed to leave or enter school grounds at this time. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Congratulations to our contest winner: Donovan C. Young! You get to take a lovely guest with you to an all inclusive meal at a restaurant that Circe keeps forgetting to add to the list of places because #unreliable :)

Homecoming is approaching!

Don’t forget friends! Homecoming will be here very soon so make a friend and start snapping selfies and you just might be the winner of a snazzy dinner for two!

storm update:

Oh oh! Looks like the Haverford Herald was right, the storm has reached the power lines and cell phone towers. You are now in the dark without any means of communication other than good ol’ talking. You may still take the plunge and go outside if you want, but the streets are getting flooded and it is not looking pretty out there so maybe not a good time to be a hero.

We will update you as to when the power comes back. Stay safe Haverford!
